Jetairfly expands its long haul network

Post by JAF737 »

Hi all,

Jetairfly is expanding its long haul network.
Phuket and Bangkok will be started next winter (1x week).

This is thanks to the installation of the winglets on both 767's!

Way to go JAF! :-)

Kind regards

Will XL Airways France maintain their flight to Phuket?

Hi,

Now Orlando/Miami again on the route and their long haul network looks even better than
Sobelair in their glory days with also the B767 ( without winglets offcourse ).
I know SLR had Dakar ( in codeshare SN )/Curacao also ( 1996 ) but JAF has Colombo/Male also !!

Good job JAF :D , but what's next after they tried the Florida route for one season only !

But..I'll book my next JAF flight when the 787 arrives

I don't think they consider Dakar as SN already covers it, but JAF flies to Kenya and Tanzania since last year.

Mauritius is also a plan for JAF, but nothing is sure yet.
Discussions are going on though :)

JAF to MRU ? That would be ace, would save me a trip to CDG or LHR :-) Do you think it would work? I know MK used to fly to BRU but the route was axed.

Why exactly? Because the fuel reduction makes this flight worth the while economically?

Very exciting news! :)
It would be great to get some more longhaul destinations! :)
However is there a source for this?

No, actually it's because the winglets will increase the range of the aircraft since the fuel consumption is slightly reduced.

Source is internal until now, I didn't see anything on the web yet, sorry.

Hopefully it would work! :) Nothing for MRU is confirmed yet but let's hope for it :)

Can't be the real reason , I've flown SLR B767-300ER (OO-SBY) without winglets in 1996 to BKK and return from Phuket
NON STOP and fully loaded !

Sounds promotional/PR-wise to me !!
JAF will use the winglets to promote the new long-haul flight in a green way
Eco-winglets ??

But hey,I'm not complaining, extra routes, better looking birds,
go JAF , nice job !!

I still do remember the spectacular take off from Phuket airport,
full trust full brakes the shaking of the plane and then the pilot counting off live
from the cockpit's intercom 3-2-1-GO !!!
Never had such take-off afterwards again !
Great memories !

Will the winglets carry the TUI smile or just again a white stripe to hide the partnership with TCA ?
Hope for a SMILE !

SLR did fly to Phuket, but as Phuket is performance limited for the 767 (especially on hot days), SLR made quite some fuel stops on that route (on the way back), or had to leave luggage behind. In order to have a good product and not having too many fuel stops, JAF had to wait for the winglets.

Hi,

JAFflyer !
As I did it myself I can tell you that I have flown SLR Phuket - Brussels without winglets and without ANY fuel stop , NON-STOP !

 27/8/1996 Sobelair SLR 1890 Phuket - Brussels B767-300ER OO-SBY

Can't imagine they left some luggage behind !!
As I can remember the load factor was VERY good in that days...
Don't know if member skystef has more than regs in his history otherwise I'm very curious now about this..

Please, can someone/pilot or so.. clear this up because I don't get it why JAF had to wait for winglets for this route and more than 10 years ago winglets weren't necessary ( did even didn't exist ;) ) !
If JAF needs the winglets from Phuket to BRU, do they still have any reserve just in case..
Why didn't SLR need it and JAF does ?

Very strange explanation to me...

But go JAF !

Note : when will the TUC/JAP arrives in BRU with their winglets?

I am a pilot (B767 even) and this is the real reason. Confirmed by former SLR pilots. You can't base your findings on 1 flight.
If you don't agree with me, inform yourself with former SLR staff (pilots).
I have done the calculations myself and it is really "on the edge".
Just be happy for this Belgian airline (in coop with Thomas Cook).

grtz!

different aircraft, different configuration.
SLR carried less pax and still needed fuel stops.
if conditions are optimal its possible for a non-stop (wingletless) but its on the edge. so it could mess up aircraft schedule every time there's a fuel stop.

Does it mean that in adverse weather conditions, the JAF 767 with winglets could also be compelled to make fuel stops? My sentence is more an affirmation than a question...

I'm not judging just giving the info about this flight ;)

The info I found on this flight on the given date gives that it was non-stop from HKT. (53 min late)

But when I searched for other dates they give me that in april 1996 they needed to stop twice: once in IST and once in BUD.
