Contrail spotting August 2010
Tx for all the contributions last month.
A new one has arrived, so again opportunities to share your (pictorial) sightings.
Here one to start: British Airways B777-200 G-YMMT at 28000 ft enroute London (LHR) - Delhi as BAW257 on UL607. Besides irisation of the aerodynamic contrail behind the plane, there is in front also a faint hart formed line which is a sound wave (or pressure wave)

Hi all....
Here you see my first try with the telescope. The pics are verry blurry and not sharp.... but for the first try on a sunny and warm day okay i think:
Lufthansa A320 to Frankfurt
Lufthansa B737 from Frankfurt
unknown B737 heading northeast
AirChinaCargo B744 to Frankfurt... distance 30-40km
I wish you beautiful clear weather and many contrails...
Steffen

Looks like Transaero Airlines: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Transaer ... 1754133/L/Steffen1030 wrote: unknown B737 heading northeast
Your photos are quite good but a bit blurry, the Air China 747 is actually really clear considering the time of year and how far away it is. What equipment are you using and where do you live?

I take it you're going abroad then! If you're flying then maybe you could give us a flight number and someone might get a photo?!DC10MD11 wrote:This will will be the last of my photos for 4/5 weeks as i am off to find some sun .

Hi...contrailwatcherUK wrote:What equipment are you using and where do you live?
Location is germany... 100km south of Berlin and the scope is a Skywatcher 8"
My camera is a Canon EOS550D
But i have a problem. I can not use the scope without Barlow. I have 2 focal adapters, one large for the Barlow and a small with 3mm lenght for without Barlow.
Without Barlow i can not focus a plane or the moon... only near objects on 500m. Shorter adapter is not available on the market.
Any ideas for me?
Here a picture of yesterday evening. Slowly, become the picture better....
Steffen

Re: Contrail spotting August 2010
You could try moving the primary mirror up a bit so that it gets closer to the secondary. Then you might be able to focusSteffen1030 wrote: But i have a problem. I can not use the scope without Barlow. I have 2 focal adapters, one large for the Barlow and a small with 3mm lenght for without Barlow.
