Got out with the scope today after 3 days of rain(HAD 60MM OF RAIN IN 1 DAY ON FRIDAY)Sky still hazy and distortion still in the sky.still got a few good photos--------------Lots of aircraft coming out of LHR and GATWICK--- But due to the winter timetable over-flights are not as busy.
Some aircraft on contrail--some not.

No photos for ages due to the weather over the UK as DC10MD11 mentioned. But finally a clear day arrived with some fantastic viewing conditions!!

British airways 772 flying through some thick cirrus creating a "rainbow contrail" effect

This was the highlight of the day, Virgin Atlantic G-VLIP turned early so I was able to get a much better angle. It also climbed quicker than the other gatwick departures so I was able to get a shot with a contrail! It came out well so I decided to upload a large pic (1600px)

A few photos i took this week-----------Not a great day as contrail traffic was very slow and most of of it was a long way off and still had some distortion in the sky.Not all aircraft on contrail------------I saw the alitalia skyteam boeing 767 on airway ul613 put was to far away for a photo.----------------i am planing to travel the 15/50 kms to AIRWAY UL613 soon as their is MORE contrail traffic.

Hi to you all
At long last some INK on the contrail web site-----------after days of rain(we had 314mm of rain in one part of the U/K last week in 24 HOURS)i got out with the scope today for a few hours before the cloud rolled in------------sky was hazy and a bit of distortion in the sky still---------had to shoot most photos at 400 asa due to the low light/low sun.
just before i stopped spotting i saw 3 ROYAL AIR FORCE GR 9A HARRIERS in formation going from north to south(very rare to see them over southeast england).had to take photos into the sun.
forcast for the next few days is RAINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.

Same overhere in Leeds you get a clear spell then before your have set equipment up its clouded over i bet thats where Bigma lens is handy

Some high pressure frosty conditions is what we need
