This morning when i came back from my exam, i was surprised by the amount of air traffic in the air, everywhere white stripes...
i'd love to have a lense like you guys and take a look what beauty is in front of it!

@ fretn

Before you invest heavily in photographic equipment buy yourself a good pair of bins or a telescope. You will be able to see airways stuff, even without the trails - they are there everyday you know.

HI their
many thanks for your post-------------i use a canon 350d in jpeg with the following settings---------- WITH a barlow lens(2inch x2)--ISO=200---SHUTTER SPEED=400.----------WITH OUT BARLOW i use the AV setting and iso of 100 on the camera.
You can use photoshop 7 or above--the alterations i make are the following---crop tool--levels----contrast----and sharpen and then use neat image(which you can download from the internet free) to reduce the noise in the photo.
their is a lot to photoshop so give it time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

i have been taking photos of contrails for the last year and i am still trying to get to grips with it-----it takes a bit of time.
i have enclosed a link below which will help you,
http://www.skystef.be/contrail.htm

skystef has been taking contrail photos for a few years now and has help me and a few other people with advice----you will see from skystef photos that he takes a very good photo-----only takes photos when it is cool/cold which is the best time.
read the above link and you will learn a lot.

all the best
