Brussels Airlines lowers fuel surcharge

As crude oil and kerosene prices have decreased, Brussels Airlines will reduce the fuel surcharge on its European flights by 5 euros and on its long-haul flight to Africa by 15 euros.

As crude oil and kerosene prices have decreased, and despite the fact that average fuel prices for 2008 are still substantially above their levels of a year ago, Brussels Airlines lowers the fuel surcharge on all its flights.

The fuel surcharge for European flights (including services to Moscow and Tel Aviv) will lower by 5 euros to 32 euros per flight segment. On long-haul routes to Africa, the fuel surcharge will be decreased by 15 euros to 100 euros per flight segment.

In implementing these reductions, Brussels Airlines is keeping the commitment it made to lower its fuels surcharges as soon as the economic situation would allow.

The reduction will apply to all Brussels Airlines tickets issued on or after 4 November 2008.

Well, the trick is that the so-called "free" tickets (e.g. obtained with Privilege miles) will cost less, since the fuel surcharge, which is wrongly considered as a tax, will now be lower for such tickets.
