Israeli aviation cannot bomb out Hezbollah bunkers

Post by SN30952 »

A French newspaper* puts it literally so:
"Israel is in the kneader"
Quickly translated, it gives this:
The military analysts are hardly more optimistic: "It is undeniable that Israel is in the kneader. Tsahal over-estimated its capacities to break Hezbollah ", notes the Israeli Reuven Pedatzur.
"Hezbollah seems to hold out and its moral seems intact", underlines Shaoul Mishal, specialist in the Islamic movements, the university of Tel-Aviv.
According to him, "it is illusory to believe that one will be able to destroy by the only force of the weapons a movement like Hezbollah".

Beyond the tenacity of the movement Shiite, the Israeli army encounters strategic problems, and notes on the ground the limits of a purely air operation. The General Alon Friedman of the northern area of Israel, explains that the army "operates to destroy the infrastructures of Hezbollah in particular the underground bunkers and stocks of rockets difficult to locate and neutralize by aviation".
No bomb able to break the bunkers of Hezbollah?

Wednesday evening, Israeli aviation released a carpet of 23 tons bombs on a bunker of Hezbollah, in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
This flood of bombs is explained, according to Alon Ben-David, analyst for the British magazine Jane' S Defence Weekly, by the fact that Israel does not have any bomb able to break the solids bunkers .

Israel had required into 2004 of the United States to sell bombs able to him to penetrate of the bunkers.
The Pentagon had approved the sale of one hundred bombs GBU-28 last year. But the Israeli ministry of Defense finally did not buy the equipment due to budget cuts, and the "American pack" remained outstanding. A reduced version of the GBU-28, weighing 2.272 kg able to penetrate seven meters of concrete was designed by Israel. But too weak to break the bunkers of Hezbollah.

Washington accelerates a delivery of bombs in Israel?
Quoting American in charge who have required anonymity, The new York Times revealed that the White House had decided, at the request of the Hebrew State, to deliver these bombs as fast as possible.
The request for Israel to accelerate the delivery of bombs with laser guidance is regarded as "unusual" by certain military persons in charge and could indicate that Israel still has a long list of targets which he wants to bombard in Lebanon.

Jane' S explanes that Israel experienced some surprises about the armament of Hezbollah. An Israeli corvette was hit on July 14 by a missile ground-sea Noor. "We did not know that Hezbollah had this type of missile", which would reach a range of 200 km, admitted admiral Noam Faig, chief of the Israeli maritime operations.

According to Jane' S Defence, Noor is manufactured in Iran based on a Chinese C-802, ranging 200 km and would be guided by radar.

The majority of the experts estimate that Israel will have to choose between the deployment of an international force and a vast terrestrial offensive, fatally expensive in human lives, as the only effective way to flush out the chiefs of Hezbollah and destroy underground stocks of rockets.

Conclusion:
Aviation cannot do it, even by massive "light" bombing.
How many faces does Condi have?

Are the military the first to see it?

Unexpected consequence:
Since Hizbullah hit navy gunboat, (Israeli) security industries flooded with requests for explanations from overseas customers who are considering canceling transactions.

Read also: Additional questions were received about RPV (remote-piloted vehicle) drones manufactured in Israel. "They asked why the RPVs aren't detecting the Katyusha launchers,"

Read also Brig. Gen. (res.) Yossi Ben-Ari, he was a Israeli senior intelligence officer
And – voila! – even senior IDF officials are signaling that they won't be able to finish the military conflict without a diplomatic arrangement.

Incredible precision:

Incredible precision:
In the British daily, The Independent, Robert Fisk from Qlaya, Southern Lebanon Published: 26 July 2006 discribes an incredible presicion.

Robert Fisk: Israeli missiles had clearly pierced the very centre of the red cross on the roof of each ambulance
From Qlaya, Southern Lebanon Published: 26 July 2006

He wonders: So is it frustration or revenge that also keeps Israel's bombs falling on the innocent?

Less precision here:
Dutch TV reports: Israel shot down own helicopter....
BBC radio is reporting an Israeli helicopter was shot down during "fierce fighting" in Lebanon.
2 Israeli helicopters were shot down last week.

Air supremacy is not longer 100%.

Reports are that the bomb that actually killed the UN Observers was a precision guided munition, meaning a laser-guided bomb.
That means that it was pointed with a laser designator at the UN Observation Post to guide the weapon in.
Those laser designators carry coded pulses so that each bomb knows which laser it is supposed to home in on. They cannot be spoofed by pocket laser pointers.
Not a coincidence, maybe a mistake. But why?

Better not drive an ambulance...

Speaking about politics on this site usually ensures a quick shut-down of the topic.

Unless you are talking about the Israeli "atrocities", apparently...
