Thank you 329.

LCY is always overlooked by people on these forums, and I just wanted to show that it can be just as enjoyable to visit that airport as any other.

For the past couple of years I have flown from LCY on VLM, and I will really miss this airport next year when we fly from Manchester instead. I wish that SN Brussels Airlines would operate a route between LCY and BRU.

I am very surprised that you didnot book your holiday with VLM from Manchester via LCY to either ANR or BRU, as VLM have increased their services recently and you would have got 2 landings and 2 take-offs at LCY.

Perhaps a weekend trip before September to keep you Belgianised?

That's true, especially as it is a unique type of airport.

To Concordino - I looked at the option you mentioned, and there was a massive supplement to fly MAN-LCY-BRU/ANR, but I agree with what you say, it would have been fun!

Maybe one day I will splash out on a trip to London from Manchester flying with Belgium's best regional carrier!

To 777 - LCY is unique, certainly in London. There are some small airlines fly into that airport which you won't see anywhere else in London (Air Wales and Scot Airways are just two examples).

London City is soon to get more unique (in London) aircraft. OLT will be operating a flight between London and Bremen, and it will be the only link between the two cities. The flight will be operated by Saab 2000, so more opportunity to spot this superb turboprop in London.

I suppose it's a good thing in a way that the airport is overlooked by spotters because that means it is never crowded and always easy to take photos.

At London City, not only are you next to water, you are surrounded on all sides by it, the runway is built stretching out into an old disused Thames dock, and it is a narrow runway as well. Makes it alot more fun than the other, more conventional airports. And the approach is simply sensational, really the best in England. The Manchester and Heathrow approaches are too gentle.

That is the Milennium Dome. It was built to celebrate the year 2000, and throughout the year there was an exhibition in there with daily circus-type shows. It was only open for the year 2000, and now no one knows what will happen with it, whether ir will become a concert hall, a permanant exhibition or be sold off for office space.

The London Eye (or Milennium Wheel) is nearer to Big Ben, which I think is further west than this view shows. I think this is looking east.

You certainly see the London Eye on the approach from the other side.

Ever asked yourself why LCY isn't crowded of spotters? ;-)

I agree that LCY has nice photospots, but you have them at LGW and LHR too! With the difference that LHR has about 80-90? movements an hour while LCY 80-90 movements a day? ;)

From a passenger point of view, LCY is of course underrated! It's close to the city center, there are no waiting times etc...

MAN-LCY-BRU return is going at €116 (about 80£) + tax!

Frederic

I'm ashamed to say that I haven't spotted at LHR since 1999, and I got some superb video footage that day, though it was all landing shots.

LGW - I haven't been there since I was four years old, but I know you see airlines there that you never see anywhere else in the UK.

My last serious spotting was in BRU on 7th September, and my next serious spotting will be in Manchester on 5th September next year.

For the MAN-LCY-BRU route, the travel company I booked with charges a massive supplement, but I had always wanted to fly with SNBA and this was my first opportunity, so I booked with them for next year.

I will continue to spot at LCY whenever I have holidays in London though!

Don't be ashamed ,Comet, we don't all have the time or possibility
to spot around airports.

I haven't found time for it since 1984. You know the job...

see you
