Arabian Airlines Announces Website Template Deadline

After extensive negotiations with Web Designer Mike Charvez, airline CEO Mahmoud Fadli announced today at a press conference in Amman’s Abdoun district that a date for the completion of the website template has been reached. According to Fadli, the website is to be completed by New Year’s Eve, “at the latest.”

The airline has released a high resolution preview of the continuing development whose worth has been unspecified.

“The website will be clean, simple, professional and easy to maintain,” said Fadli whilst being questioned about the design and implementation. He further continued, jokingly, explaining the process, stating that “after we receive the website, we will immediately hand it over to Western for integration and installation on our own server, which shouldn’t take more than a couple of days at most… unless the sky falls.”

This comes after over five years of development on the airline concept which hopes to see its debut in the real world in the foreseeable future.

TravelerMagazine looks to a bright future

The airline’s investment in a magazine with a broad scope and an almost endless set of possibilities is proving to be worthwhile, at least in the eyes of the airline’s management and growing ‘fan-base.’

As an experiment, airline CEO Mahmoud Fadli along with airline Head of Public Relations Andreas Konstantinidis, have created a ‘facebook fan-club’ for the airline, which is targeted at the general public. Within the first few days of creating the group, the total number of members has grown to 123, with more being invited to participate in the airline’s development.

One of the biggest attractions seems to be the potential of the airline’s TravelerMagazine, which hopes to right the wrongs of the misconceptions on Arabs and the Middle East through exposure to literary works, whilst still keeping the airline magazine feel. Interest in the publication seems to be an integral part of Arabian’s slowly, but surely, growing public image, and as airline CEO Mahmoud Fadli put it, “it is the crown jewel of the airline; this is what we’ve set out to do: to represent our people, and our ways of life in a language that people can relate to and understand.”

Columnist Matthew Sheedy, whose article on San Francisco was featured in the August 2006 edition of TravelerMagazine (and also on the TravelerMagazine website), told TravelerPress that one of the reasons he decided to write for the magazine was because he “wanted to spread the image of America's greatest cities. I wanted to allow those in the Middle East (and the world for that matter) to see what US can offer to them while they are here” and “as far as the airline's goals [are concerned], I have to commend them for trying to create a positive image out of a region that is felt by many to have nothing but anarchy and violence. Fortunately there are still some trying to bring both sides together for a lasting peace.”

However, there is also skepticism in the community about the broad goals the magazine has and whether or not it can truly help curve the misconceptions towards Arabs in society. When presented with this criticism, CEO Mahmoud Fadli told us that “the magazine is a form of expression, and cannot single handedly make change; it’s part of a process that occurs in every society when one particular group becomes stigmatized. Change occurs as a result of various factors, not just one, and this just a small effort that, when combined with countless other efforts, becomes part of this movement to clear the misconceptions of Arabs throughout the world. But single-handedly, no; no way, it cannot change a thing. But it can help open a few minds.”

What others say about TravelerMagazine:

“I believe Arabian has set out to accomplish a task that has become a weak spot in American society, and that is Middle Eastern culture, people, and life. Arabian has continued to set benchmarks in the virtual aviation community and I’m confident it can do the same with Traveler. Arabian has the dedication and knowledge to undertake such project, and if past work is any indication, this publication will set another benchmark in the online community, and hopefully make an impact on society.”
-AJ Long

“It is a quality modern communication tool which keeps pilots, staff and observers informed and educated on Arabian Airlines news, and it is sure to bring the standard of virtual airlines higher.”
-Brendan McKewon, Public Relations Representative
