Memory is short:
Iran had great airlines once.
1- From the merger of Iranian Airways (1946) aka Imperial Iranian Airways (1924) and Persian Air Services (aka PAS) came Iran National Airlines Corporation, INAC aka Iran Air., actually both got nationalized on February 24, 1962 into Iranair.

In '57 PAS acquired a Douglas DC-7C*, previously used by SABENA on transatlantic routes. And with the help of SABENA PAS expanded its services to Europe... PAS then started flying direct services from Teheran to European destinations: Geneva, Paris, Brussels and London-Heathrow.
PAS merged in 61 with United Iranian Airlines - U.I.A.
That airline then merged to become Iranian National Airlines Corporation - I.N.A.C.

IR had since and has in its fleet: Boeing 747-200, 747-100, 747-SP, Boeing 707, Boeing 727-200, Boeing 737-200, Airbus A300, Fokker 100.

Iran Air
IRAN - EP
ICAO CODE: IRA 096
CALLSIGN: Iranair

Now a good question is: Is Iranair still civil aviation?

2- Iranians are not Arabs, they are Persians.

*With Expo '58 coming, Sabena puchased B707 called Intercontinental.
Sabena was flying to THR till into the '70 - In that time I've been to THR several times. And once when we landed @ THR, the roof of the main lobby of the airport had just collapsed under the weight of snow.
