Wizzair investigating CRL - London Luton !!
According to the info I received :
Wizzair is investigating to open the CRL-London Luton Route !!
I think that would be great, after FR stopped the CRL-STN.
Lets hope, would be nice small hub from Wizz, even if it is CRL !!

Rgds,
Flying from Brusselsto London is cheap, BA 99 Euro for example.
So what would be a good fair for a budget airline flying from Chaleroi to Stansted ? about 50 Euro..... ?
At least Ryanair can say, been there, done that...... and it didn't work !.
Ryanair is also a very known brand in Europe and Wizz is not !. So lets see if this company likes to spend money on marketing to get this going.
Personally I don't think( if it ever starts) that this will last long !.

A the end of the CRL-STN operation (late 04/2004) FR operated 26 weekly return flights between Brussels-South and London-StanstedThomasCook wrote:Yeah , why not ...??
As I good remember FR did 4 a 7 flights/day to Stansted !!
I even went X-mas Shopping with them !
Operated with B732 + 738
Correct me if i am wrong about the amount.
They stopped this route after all problems with the European Commission + CRL Airport Support.

I think there is already too much competition on the Brussels -> London route.
I've read a few articles including one on British Airways admiting they had lost the battle with Eurostar.
I remember only a few years ago there were so many carriers going to London from BRU: Virgin Express, BA, BMI, Sabena... BA used to have a 767 on Fridays but now only have a A319 and even code share with SN.
Wizzair is going to have to make a lot of publicity for this and I can't see why anyone from the Brussels area would spend most of their time travelling to and from airports when they can catch a cheap flight with BMI from Zaventem or catch the Eurostar. It could however be of interest to people living in the South of Beligum.

I think, entering the all European markets is the right way fo new low cost airlines, including Wizz. Ryan cancelled that route not because it was not profitable, but rather as a punishment for the EC decision concerning its business in Charleroi (look at the timing of this move). A few weeks ago I was trying to get a BA flight Brussels-London on a short notice, could never go under 180 EUR (or pounds sterling, can't remember). same goes fro Eurostar, it's only cheap if you book tree weeks before you planned trip.
Now, the argument that a company is unknown is very strange to me. As such innovation means putting unknown things on to the market. Ryan sometime ago was also an unknown company, wasn't it? Tru , of course, that now it's more difficult to get established in the market. But that's what entrepreneurship is about, don't you think?

CLR-STN-CRL did in fact "work" but, as reported earlier in this thread, the cancellation of the route could be regarded as retaliation.Avion wrote:If Ryanair couldn't make STN work with their marketing power, I seriously doubt Wizz will make LTN work.
However I have to admit it was somewhat less frequented at the end... but I think two flights a day (early morning + late evening) would have been enough instead of four flights...
Is Luton a real alternative for STN?

Luton is closer to London then stansted . . .
Definately a growing airport all be it Bizjets and Budget airlines but there will be more investment and and extension to the runway isnt far off.
Ive flown from Luton many a time to and the facilities are more then capable.
I live under the flightpath too Hehe
