Air Europa to buy A350-800's

Post by Zorba »

Airbus says Air Europa has signed an understanding for 10 A350-800's, with an option for 2 more. The planes will be delivered in 2010 - 2012

The planes will be powered by GEnx engines (General Electric), and will have place for about 330 passengers! The A350 will replace the B767's.

Air Europa also signed a lease-agreement with Airbus for 1 A340-200 for 2005, and 2 new A330-200 in 2006.

and to also choose the a350 so soon - it's still in it's early stages - i don't think it's a good decision, but who knows. i don't think the a350 will be anything special anyway - not like the a380 or 7e7.

Don't forget that the first planes of a new model are sold at a very heavy discount to "launch" the sales of the type. :!:

Don't shout. A small research on this very site would have given you the answer:

Personally, I think Airbus took the good decision giving the green light for the launching of the A350 program..But the future will tell us!

To be fair to Boeing, I would like just one more and last time to refer to a related FT article issued yesterday:

(Hope this is better Andre...sorry for the inconvenience)

Indeed, but I think that, if the A350 and 7E7 would be exactly the same, most airlines will choose for the A350! Why? It's the same cockpit as the rest of the Airbus family = almost no costs for the training of your pilots ...

It´s good to see that the Airbus A350 is acheiving some very important orders this early in the game, considering that the final go ahead was only given 11 days ago. Im sure that Airbus has been in contact with various Airlines prior tho to the lauch and i wouldn´t be suprised to see some other airlines coming foward and ordering the most recent member of the Airbus family.

But they aren't exactly the same and fleet commonality isn't always that important as many people tend to say.

SORRY! When i write in capital letters , i don't mean to shout (most of the
time) , but it just means that i'm questioning something real hard.

And if it is meaned to shout , than NEVER in a bad way, just to express my
happiness or my anger against someone...but certainly NEVER AGAINST
a LUCHTZAK MEMBER. So don't worry ... doesn't mean any harm. But
i will try to minimalise this. OK?

Yannick,

I understand, but BIG letter reading is not fun (at least for me). fat or underlined looks much nicer

We should not underestimate the power of politics in this deal! The Socialist took power in Spain and they are much more pro European then the last conservative rulers.

But still I think that airbus gave a very good deal on lease of the A340 and A330 until A350 delivery so Air Europa could not resist!

But what strikes me is the fact that there are still banks that are willing to give loans to airlines to make such huge investment despite the high oil prices!

Mary Christmas to all of you!
