It was announced late in the evening by the Indian civil aviation authorities that the Indian sky is set to witness an invasion of budget carriers in the early 2005.
The government has given the go ahead to the following airlines:
vijay Mallayas - Kingfisher Airways.
The Wadia Familys - Go Air.
Royal Air - Erstwhile Modiluft Airways.
With the following new budget carriers into the fray the fare war may see a lot of action in the coming months. We are speaking about 20 to 30% decrease in the existing normal fares.
Kingfisher may start by early April 2005, while Go Air is due for a full scale launch on March 2005 and Royal Air can be seen follow suit later somewhere around May 2005.
