Air Seychelles will also give back a Boeing 737-800?

Post by SN30952 »

OrientThai wrote in LLN "Air Seychelles will axe its flights to Zurich and Frankfurt in April 2005, the carrier will also give back a Boeing 737-800 to its leaser.

The reason for this is due to the airline's leasing company repossessing a Boeing 737-800 currently flying on routes around the Indian Ocean and Asia. This has forced the airline to reallocate the Boeing 767 which was currently used on the flights to Zurich and Frankfurt on the routes previously served using Boeing 737-800s.

The airline had flown to Zurich since 17 years. Air Seychelles has recently been hit by competition from Middle Eastern airlines on its European routes."

I am confused. That 737-800 surprised me:
For the moment there is one weekly flight Air Seychelles, The Creole Spirit
HM 1 ZRH 19:35 SEZ) 07:30+1 day(s) Non-stop 767 8h55min
And two weekly Air Seychelles
HM 5 FRA 18:45 SEZ 07:15+1 day Non-stop 767 9h30min
HM 1005 FRA 20:45 SEZ 09:05+1 day Non-stop 763 9h20min

On international long-distance flights

The Boeing 767, a twin jet engine half way between the size of a 757 and a 747, is used for the international long-distance flights of Air Seychelles. The main features of this plane are a spacious and comfortable layout, economical fuel consumption and operational flexibility, low noise level, ultra-modern technology and digital avionics.

Air Seychelles' also operates a brand new Boeing 737-700 aircraft, named Amirantes.
The 126-seater aircraft allows the national carrier to provide passengers with more frequent flights on its regional route network which operates to Johannesburg, Dubai, Mauritius and the new services to Mumbai and Maldives...

Air Seychelles runs a total of 8 aircraft:
* 2 Boeing 767-300ER (247 passengers) ;
* 1 Boeing 737-700 NG (126 seats) Seating 737
On inter-island flights
* 1 SHORT SD 360 SD Sherpa (36 seats)
* 3 DHC-6 Twin Otter (20 passengers) ;
* 1 Islander (6 passengers).

Its fleet is serviced by British Airways in London.

That 737 is flying:
HM 17 BOM 04:10 SEZ 06:55 Non-stop 737 4h15min
HM 19 DXB 15:20 SEZ 19:50 Non-stop 737 4h30min
HM 59 MLE 12:30 SEZ 14:30 Non-stop 737 3h00min (Male -Mahe!!)
HM 60 JNB 23:00 SEZ 05:55+1 day Non-stop 737 4h55min
HM 54 MRU 12:05 SEZ 14:35 Non-stop 737 2h30min

Does this imply that the 767 will fly this program? DXB, BOM, MLE, JNB, MRU ...
