Most of the big planes are not bought by the airlines, but they are bought by one leasing company who then leases them to the carriers.

have a look at www.ilfc.com

In February, during a visit at Airbus Industries Toulouse, the guide told us some prices (wrote it down, still have that paper):

A320: € 75 000 000
A340: € 125 000 000
A380 (estimated in Febr.): € 250 000 000

That's what a guide told us...

Some very old second hand planes can be aquired for a good deal, but keep in mind that it costs a lot more to operate a plane than just to buy it ;)

Correct, but constructors often give discounts, especially for large orders, going up to 30%. Furthermore, the prices are always quoted in US dollars, and since the dollar is low now, so are the costs expressed in euros.

If you look in the Luchtzak Latest News, very often, next to an order you will see the value of the order, which enables you to calculate the cost per plane..

On this site you can find some prices of military aircraft and a few civil ones. The website contains a vast amount of information, the only problem is to find it, and to see if it is still up to date...
