Ryanair Irish pilots agreed to meet airline’s management on 11 July, to discuss the possible staving off of a planned strike on 12 July 2018. The carrier may fly in cockpit crew from bases abroad to fill gaps.

Verdict from the Dutch Labour Appeal Court: for Ryanair crew that is based in the Netherlands, Dutch labour legislation applies. Even when their labour contract states that the Irish legislation is applicable.

Court verdict (in Dutch):
https://uitspraken.rechtspraak.nl/inzie ... :2018:2826

Content of the case, in brief: a cabin crew member based at Eindhoven, was ordered to move to Dublin. She refused, and was then dismissed by Ryanair, based upon the Irish contract that says that Ryanair decides where people have to work. The Dutch Appeal Court says that Dutch labour legislation matters, hence Ryanair has to pay her indemnity (in total some 34.000 €).

Ryanair is eyeing a hub in Guayaquil, according to the city’s mayor Jaime Nebot.

Really? Following the footsteps of Norwegian in Latin America?

Rapid descent. Question, based upon press reports about the inujuries: could it be it was a too rapid descent?
https://www.irishtimes.com/news/ireland ... -1.3565435

Question: why did they divert to Hahn, and not to Frankfurt? FRA has more hotels, more hospitals, more ambulances to deal with 33 injuries.

Hahn is a Ryanair base with spare aircraft and spare parts to continue the journey. When the captain decided to land, it was probably only for a technical problem.

No it cant be “too rapid”. An emergency descend is a standard procedure laid down by Boeing in their FCOM’s and well rehearsed by pilots every 6 months. A healthy person should be fine withstanding this. Any cold or infection can indeed make your eardrums burst, but that doesnt mean it was too steep.

Ryanair says long-term effects from Irish strike could ultimately affect future expansion in the country since aircraft are “moveable assets”.

If this happens, Aer Lingus will be happy :)
