One can easily imagine the consequences if the 2 interlocutors are unable to understand each other !
Like the train accident in Pecrot :(

Yes - a perfect - and perfectly sad - example.

That part is quite easily answered: that’s what the training is for, amongst other things of course, and exactly why people aren’t taken from the sim and put in a live environment without Instructor by their side for approximately the first half year to year.
That’s also the reason why the previously mentioned Dutch speaking trainees went from LGG and CRL back to BRU/ANR/OST.
As per your request about a fireman from Bruges... we have a Dutch guy in EBOS and he seems to be coping very well, so yes, it would work. It’s still a heck of a lot easier to learn to understand a dialect of the same language you speak, than a dialect of a language you can just about make yourself understood in.

Not only in EBCI! This morning at EBBR, arrivals were regulated due to weather (wind direction) and ATC staffing. Moderate delays, according to Eurocontrol...

Sure, but that doesn’t really have anything to do with the topic at hand. Due weather, BRU is forced to used runway configuration 01 for arrivals, 07R for departures, which reduces capacity quite a lot.

Eurocontrol specifically mentioned ATC staffing as one of the reasons for the moderate delays. Do you imply that the 01/07R runway configuration requires more controllers?

I could be wrong, but as far as I know the restriction was due capacity this morning, not due staffing? I could be wrong, though.
However, 01/07 does not require more controllers than the other configurations.

Any questions for Federal Minister Bellot, Walloon Minister Crucke, BSCA CEO Cloquet, Belgocontrol CEO Decuyper? I'll be at their press conference in CRL tomorrow morning.

"...Minister, Is it true that, because of the forthcoming local elections, you refuse to make a federal aviation law? Is it true that you don't want to do that because your party will then be punished by French speaking Brussels voters who now benefit from the Brussels noise restrictions?..."

That question would have been out of topic. See here the report on the press conference:
