Ryanair Irish pilots agreed to meet airline’s management on 11 July, to discuss the possible staving off of a planned strike on 12 July 2018. The carrier may fly in cockpit crew from bases abroad to fill gaps.

Anyway, Portugalia cabin crew no longer plan to strike from 11 to 16 July 2018.

The trade unions at Aviapartner LGG are sharpening their knives. Translated: not enough workforce, equipment not good enough, company policy not transparant enough... etc.

Monday morning: strike at Staca, the private bus company operating Leuven-Brussels for Flemish public transport company De Lijn. Don't know though if this strike will affect Brussels Airport.

Monday morning: strike at Staca
That's tomorrow, 16th of July? Too bad! In case of doubt, the train might be a better option. In this particular situation, that is, there seems to be no train strike at hand right now.

Press report: "a SAS flight Stockholm-Brussels (ARN-BRU) from Monday evening was cancelled because the crew went on strike, with last minute announcement only". Three Belgian passengers were then rebooked onto this mornings' flight, but that flight was also cancelled, the passengers say (FR24 shows that this mornings' flight operated, so they were probably overbooked/offloaded).

Royal Air Maroc cancelled several scheduled flights on 24 and 25 July 2018 due to a strike launched by the airline’s pilots. Apparently, no flights to/from Belgium are affected.

I dug a little deeper into the matter: the airline is facing a pilot strike since 18 July.

Cancelling 10 flights per day
Losing 2,000,000 USD per day

New pilot strikes at Air France? The AF pilots don't like the idea to name the number 2 of Air Canada as new CEO of Air France-KLM. Because he is not French. But is it written somewhere that the CEO of AF-KL must be French? The decision doesn't belong to them, but to the shareholders and the board of AF-KL.

But KLM pilots are also angry because of the high workload and also threaten to strike.

KLM expresses disbelief and disappointment regarding VNV’s attitude

KLM yesterday presented the Dutch Airline Pilots Association VNV with an improved proposal for a new collective labour agreement (CLA) that better complies with the pilots’ wishes to reduce work pressure and improve work-life balance. We are not fully complying with the last bid presented by the VNV, but are prepared to lay down an adjusted KLM proposal. This proposal is a revised version of KLM’s earlier proposal, using ingredients from the VNV’s last bid. In so doing, we are prepared to surmount a great number of objections. This is a final bid to ensure that a new CLA is laid down as swiftly as possible. This is in everyone’s interests. The fact that the VNV has rejected this proposal so swiftly, without assessment of the contents and without further discussion with KLM and its members, is incomprehensible and neither in the interest of the pilots, nor KLM. KLM remains open to further discussion on the contents of the proposal.

Unionists at Polish airline LOT announce protest in September

Trade unionists at Poland’s state-owned airline LOT are planning a protest over pay in September, the Money.pl website has reported.

The unionists are expected to decide on the exact date of the protest on Wednesday, the website said.

Employees oppose a 2013 pay decision made by the airline as it stood on the brink of bankruptcy, according to the website.

Since 2013, pay has been dependent on time spent in the air, and new workers have not been given full-time contracts, working instead on casual or B2B contracts, which means they do not receive paid sick or holiday leave.

Employees at PLL LOT, the company that runs the Polish airline, told Money.pl that there were “plenty of reasons to protest.”

Monika Żelazik, the former head of the largest trade union at PLL LOT, said there was a number of issues between the staff and management that needed to be addressed.

This strike will NOT affect Brussels Airport, if (and only if) everything goes along ET's wishes:

Planned Air Traffic Controllers Strikes Will Have No Effect on Ethiopian Airlines Operations

Ethiopian Airlines would like to inform its esteemed customers that the planned strike by Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority Air Traffic Controllers (ATCs) in Addis Ababa on Monday, August 27, 2018, will have no effect on its operations.

The airline has made provisions for adequate alternative measures enabling smooth conduct of its operations with no delays or flight disruptions, should the planned ATCs strike take place.

Ethiopian will ensure that, above all else, the interests of its esteemed customers are protected and their flights operate smoothly and on-time.

Schiphol is happy to inform you that the security companies and trade unions have reached an agreement. This means that there will be no work disruption at the security checks this September 4th!
