On the airport of Brussels the air-traffic has experienced since this mornig large delays, from a half hour till an hour as a result of powerful wind from the south. Aircraft can only use runway 20 and 25R. Because the both runways cross each other in the surroundings of Steenokkerzeel there extra security measures apply and must some planes above Zaventem continue circle until them greenness light to get to land. To the planes which must leave the same measure applies. Also they are delayed.

Wow that's looking serious.
When looking outside here the weather looks very calm to me but off course I don't know the situation in BRU.

Is tere maybe only one runway in use?

The winds are indeed quite strong today. This morning they mentioned winds going up to 60 km/h in Belgium and even 80km/h at the coast.

Could we expect some diversions from EHAM if the winds are also very strong over there ?

I just checked to EHAM arrivals and departures but everything is looking normall at EHAM at this moment.

And if BRU has already problems handling it's own traffic personnally don't think that pilots are diverting to BRU.

You're right about that ;)

Anyway the season of heavy winds is starting and this means great time for spotting, expect for Vonsmalhausen who doesn't like the wind.

It was on the VRT news of 10h, they said almost exactly the same thing as you said over here, it even looked like it was an exact translation of it.

(VRTnieuws.net)
