PowdAir, a new Sion-based airline with flights to a.o. Antwerp

Post by jan_olieslagers »

The relevant wikipedia page has been updated to mention "seasonal charter" to Sion from December 2017; with a reference to http://www.exyuaviation.com/2017/02/tra ... tract.html which does mention Rotterdam and Brussels but not Antwerp. Anyone know more?

BTW the basic idea is imho excellent, with the right conditions (schedule, fares, ...) this should become a hit - to some degree, at least.

Regarding luchtvaartnieuws.nl, powdair is Looking to operate an A319 on their new routes.
The Aircraft isn't Going to be able to take off at MTOW. Still it would be Nice to see An A320 family Aircraft on tarmac in Antwerp :p
Don't know If Its Going to be viable tho...

Isn't Tradeair going to operate this with a F100?

With this F-100 plane?

Image

The ch-aviation article says that PowdAir is a virtual airline that needs to contract planes from other real airlines. I wish them good luck!

Still a virtual airplane, EI-SKI is not yet on the Irish registry (although this registration is still available). And as they are a virtual airline, they need to wetlease the plane, so it would be more interesting to see a picture of the real plane.

Nice Photoshop photo. But if they really want bookings from the travel trade, they need to give a lot more of legal & company information. Example: what is their legal position: charter airline? Operating airline? From which airline will they rent "EI-SKI" (cfr DIBO's post)? Handling agent at ANR?

Which aircraft will you be using?
We are using either the Embraer 170, a 76 seat regional jet or Embraer 190 seating 106 passengers depending on demand!

Who owns powdair?
powdair is privately owned by a group of successful businessmen and savvy investors, who also happen to love skiing. We are registered in Ireland, as like most people of Europe, we do not have a clue what will happen with the UK post Brexit. Our registered address is Carmichael House, 60 Lower Baggot Street, Dublin 2, Ireland. The company registration number is 601722.

PRESS RELEASE: new route from Antwerp to Sion

New airline powdair announces routes from Sion, Switzerland to Antwerp International Airport
powdair has announced its new operating routes from Sion in the Valais region of Switzerland that include four flights a week from Antwerp Airport.

The airline, that commences flights from December 2017 onwards, will significantly cut transfer times to some of Switzerland’s most popular ski resorts for winter sports enthusiasts with prices averaging at around £140 (€165) each way including ski carriage.

Antwerp Airport will have flights departing on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays – every week, commencing on Thursday 14th December, 2017.

Head of Marketing and Customer Experience, Zoë Ombler, comments: “following a period of consultation between our management team and by popular demand from our market research, we are delighted to announce that Antwerp Airport will serve our route to Sion, Switzerland this winter, from Belgium. We know there’s a healthy community of skiers and snowboarders in the Northern Belgium area and also within the catchment areas of Brussels and The Netherlands and many people we spoke to were excited at the prospect of flying into the heart of the Alps, to an airport not currently serviced by other airlines.”

Marcel Buelens, CEO Antwerp Flanders International Airport says:” We very much look forward to welcoming Powdair and its passengers to Antwerp Airport as from mid December. I’m convinced this new route from Antwerp to Sion will be welcomed very enthusiastically by the many winter sports fans in both Belgium & The Netherlands.”

Online ticket sales will be available soon.

That's not an aircraft. That's a an aircraft type. An aircraft is, example: "We use OE-Lxx, an ERJ-170 wetleased from Pxxx VxxxLxxx Austria."

Those "successful businessmen" apparently are Simon Rolfe and Tristan Taylor. What are their achievements in aviation?

Have you Googeled that address? It's a multi company business centre in Dublin.
