BRU is doing a good job if it comes to attracting new routes to Asia... 7 routes at this moment. You see where the growth is. Maybe SIN and ICN in the near future.. who knows. But what about the states? Why is it so difficult to attract new routes to the USA? Boston, Philly, Houston, SFO...

Of course, most passengers are transferring. Nobody in his right mind(*) would fly from Brussels to London when the Eurostar is so fast and easy for a city to city trip.

(*) unless he is an avgeek, but they are not normal people

When I was still working for Germania in LGW, I was going back 2 or 3 times a month to Brussels, I traveled only one single time with Eurostar because it was often the most expensive option. Most of the time I was traveling with Eurolines as it was the cheapest option, or with British Airways or Brussels Airlines from LHR to BRU, British Airways from LGW to AMS or Easyjet from LGW to LUX.

Eurostar is far to have the monopole between Brussels and London, British airways and Brussels Airlines are very competitive, and if you have time but no money, Eurolines and Megabus are 2 goods alternative too

By the way Andre I still think I’m in my right mind

I'm sure you have a clear mind, but do you take into account the cost and time of going from the airport to the city centre? The tube from LHR (or the train from LGW) to downtown costs a hell of a lot of money and takes time. And the Diabolo surcharge in BRU also is no small money.

I truly think that Eurostar is the most convenient way to travel from Brussels to London. No need to convince me, I totally agree. But I can tell you from my experience that when you travel last minute like I did for 1 year that Eurostar is often the most expensive. This is true that you have to pay for the tube to go to LHR, but depending where you are living in London, it can be sometimes cheaper to go to Heathrow than St Pancras.

By the way one day I was OFF and so in Brussels, Germania called me to see if I can operate a Gambia Bird Airlines flight from LGW to FNA (ow nostalgia) because of a sick cabin crew, I agreed but told them I was in BRU. They made me proceeding to LGW to operate the flight and they decided to get me on a Brussels Airlines flight to Heathrow and then with the train to LGW rather than with Eurostar to St Pancras. So I’m not the only one thinking this way :-)

But I guess If you have the chance to book your ticket well in advanced the Eurostar is maybe not so expensive, but I only hav’d this opportunity once

More competition for airlines:

Wednesday 4th April 2018: first Eurostar London St Pancras to Amsterdam (pax have to deboard at Brussels Zuid-Midi station for customs and passport control).

Nice cooperation between The NL and Belgium: they keep our prisoners (is that still going on in Utrecht?), we check their passports. :)

Pax to deboard only from Amsterdam to London, not on the opposite direction (passport control in London).

FlyOrange (Netherlands) started service from Amsterdam to Al Hoceima in March, with plans to offer charter service from Brussels and Rotterdam to Al Hoceima and Tetouan on 11 July 2018, operated by Air Via (Bulgaria).

ANA All Nippon Airways and Adria Airways are seeking to conclude a codeshare agreement, on service from Japan to Paris, Frankfurt and Brussels, as well as from these European points to Ljubljana.

If Adria manages to codeshare on the ANA flights between Narita and Brussels, SN should be able to do it too, methinks!

but ANA is operating .. thus they still need additional rights to codeshare even when they're not flying the route themselves ?
