Brussels Airlines in 2017

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
Regarding starting other destinations to/from the US for SN (from BRU): I am sure this will happen in due time. But it is NOT SN that decides on this (rightfully so). You need to do management and take decisions from the LG Group perspective (and SN and BRU are part of their strategy). Something else has NO sense at all. Moreover, it is even not decided by the LH Group alone, but by the JV (including Air canada and UA).

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
From the LH Group financial report Jan-Sep '17 (p3): Result from operating activities up by EUR 53m to EUR 2.3bn (of which EUR 34m is attributable to SN Airholding)
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
Interesting find: so as I had guessed, they make up about 1/4th of the financial result published under the 'point-to-point' cluster consolidating the results from the Eurowings and Brussels Airlines brands as well as the Air Berlin ops. This also matches their volumetric share in this line up, btw, so their financial performance must roughly be 'in line' with the other brands. I'd say they are on target for a positive operational result of 40-45M euro this year then, almost double that of last year?DeltaWiskey wrote: ↑25 Oct 2017, 11:40 From the LH Group financial report Jan-Sep '17 (p3): Result from operating activities up by EUR 53m to EUR 2.3bn (of which EUR 34m is attributable to SN Airholding)
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
From a Lufthansa Group perspective, it would be interesting to move some flights to BOS from FRA or ZRH to BRU: that would save time for many connecting passengers. Indeed, flying to FRA or ZRH before continuing to BOS often involves backtracking, and connecting in BRU would certainly be a more direct option.RTM wrote: ↑24 Oct 2017, 16:27That sounds like some hefty competition... And you wonder why SN doesn't jump in head first...?JustPlanes wrote: ↑24 Oct 2017, 07:35 The lack of expansion in the US is not only bad for Brussels Airlines... its bad for Brussels Airport and its bad for Belgium....
Take the example where I live here in Boston.
If I take the Top 25 airports in Europe we have service to all but Russia and Brussels....
Brussels as the Capital of Europe!!!!
Take Keflavik, the 65th airport in Europe.... and 4 daily nonstop from Boston!
As a Belgian living in Boston who previously worked for SN here and filled up every flight from the A310 to the B747-300 except in the middle of the winter I find that pretty sad!
But I understand that LH has 3 flights a day including 748 and 359 and Swiss has 2 a day so they wouldn't want SN to take any of their business away... If thats how things evolve SN may as well move their entire operation to DUS

Hi,
Seems SN is the new or other Lufthansa Cityline, staralliance-livery A343 !
Remember Germanwings,Augsburg ?
As long as it fits and then dumped :p
Sad but true ,...
DUS is bigger then BRU, the options are there not in BRU, get it
The open space Air Berlin left is there, the money is there, the pax are there,..
There are no DUS connections from BRU...
So need to say more lol

Furthermore, ATW is illustrating a long-haul operation with an SN A319 ?

But, yes, the whole Germany and LH don't play in the same league than Belgium. Counting two megahubs (FRA, MUC), then Medium size hubs like DUS (Germany number 3), TXL, HAM ...
Checking traffic figures :
BRU 2016 : PAX : 21,818,418*; Aircraft Operations : 223,688; Cargo (tonnes): 494,637.
DUS 2016 : PAX : 23,521,919; Aircraft Operations : 217,574; Cargo (tonnes) : 93,418.
* BRU pax 2016 : -7% drop due to march 22, 2016.
BRU 2015 : PAX : 23,460,018; Aircraft Operations : 239,349; Cargo (tonnes) : 489,303.
DUS 2015 : PAX : 22,476,685; Aircraft Operations : 210.205; Cargo (tonnes) : 90,452.
Cargo is predominant at BRU.
Both airport have a real potential IMHO.
BRU 2017 : January until august : PAX : 16,606,007.
DUS 2017 : January until august : PAX : 16,883,705.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
Hi,
Nice comparison thX ...
Indeed I just wanted to say there is a huge gap in there where EW will fit in, this can cause a success where SN won't benefit from as it will integrated... AB is the spark that lighted CS eyes
Even the competition is lower is DUS... Weeze is still not CRL, now AB is gone no FR little easy to compete with...
For the moment is good for SN as the focus will e there but after ...
Dus has its own public they won't be mixed with SN-BRU except some Limburg/Liège parts but that is still now going on !
Leaving this week also again from DUS

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
The other day I was thinking that Brussels Airlines could already transport over 9 million passengers this year. YTD traffic up to september is 6,86m. Taking into account 10% growth in October and 12% in November/December (should not be far off with TC integration) would bring the numbers over 9m for this year already. Impressive I would say.
The DUS comparison is slightly off-topic, but with AB disappearing and not all routes being taken over, we will very likely see BRU taking a firm lead in 2018.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
Still no news regarding a possible rebranding for SN... it is almost one year after the full integration into LH/EW...
So will the brussels airlines brand stay as it stands today?
Or can we expect belgianwings, eurobelgianwings, belgianeurowings, brusselswings... or something else? Does anyone have some reliable information on it? Or may we speculate together once again?
For my part, I would vote for belgianwings (or simply belgian airlines but that would be less coherent with the wings concept...).

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
Last day of ops for TCAB today. We can talk about 'Brussels Airlines' from now on.
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
Exactly from 01:30 tomorrow morning when the last TCAB flight from Tenerife South lands at Brussels AirportHQ_BRU_Lover wrote: ↑27 Oct 2017, 17:46 Last day of ops for TCAB today. We can talk about 'Brussels Airlines' from now on.
And indeed there will be a ceremony at Brussels Airport tomorrow for the departure of the first SN flight to Hurghada in Egypt.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
Brussels Airlines is now hiring cabin attendants and senior cabin crew members for long-haul operations out of their new Düsselsorf base.
And one of the things you need to have, is a valid crew VISA for the USA. So it's as good as confirmed that their first flights will be to America.

Thank you for your clarification and explanation. BRU will most likely confirm its development in 2018. It will be interesting to compare the evolution of BRU and DUS / EW in 2018-2019.
