Low cost not welcome at OST.
As if TUI were not a low cost... :?
TUI fly is a low cost airline.

I have flown TUI and WIZZ in the past weeks, and yes, there's still quite a difference between those two ;)

According to this article there would be an official inauguration of the new departure hall, shops, resto and lounge tomorrow 20 April. (If it's still planned on that day?) Is anyone of the forum invited or going to attend it? I'm really curious and hoping someone is maybe doing some sort of photoshoot? Thx

Article & small movie on the new departure hall (gva.be in Dutch).

loosely translated:
The area has been doubled in size and can now receive up to 400,000 passengers annually.
Glass walls to enhance the view on the tarmac, luggage belt capacity increased. Comfort went up with a lounge area and a coffee bar. Security went from 1 to 2 lanes and a supermarket will be added to the shops.

Unfortunately not that many pictures, but you can grasp the idea. Seems they used the same interior fabrics and materials as in the refurbished OST terminal which opened a few days ago, to create a ‘cozy’ atmosphere.
:?: If anyone has more pics please PM me or share, thx ;)

Is there someone that has any idea if Antwerp Airport is working on a new (and up to date) website?

In the ads that appear from time to time here on Luchtzak, there is one that says "The easiest airport of Flanders is in The Netherlands. Eindhoven Airport. Always easy! Discover it."

I guess Marcel Buelens is not amused...

He has totally no right to be 'not amused'. It's still the same mess as described in my previous post . Maybe even worse, some extra concrete blocks were put along the road where many people illegally (because full of 'prohibited to stop' signs) do a drop-off & ride. Yesterday, the 'Aviation Day', I noticed the official 'Kiss&Fly' was still closed for passengers, but about twenty cars of airport employees were parked there very conveniently for them, right in front of the airport building. The paying parkings were used intensively yesterday, a relative of mine could only visit the last 1.5hrs. of the event and had to pay the special 'Aviation Day' rate of 5€ on the 'longterm' parking . I now see the official rate is 4€ for the first 5 hours!!

What about new airlines and routes for Antwerp Airport?
It looked very promissing last year and Marcel Beulens was talking about several new airlines.
Now one year later still nothing new.
Can we expect something to change in the near future?
Or can we only hope TUI starts more routes with their fourth E-jet?

Hi,
Same at OST.
Promises, promises but no action.
Marcel talked about two 50.000 tons cargo operators for 2017.
New airlines with new destinations.
Nothing so far, even for the winter 2017 its too late now.
Hope to hear some news this summer for summer 2018. :?

One pilot school in/around Antwerp will probably remember student Nico P., who falsified the proof from his payment (2.300 Euro). The guy has now been condemned for a series of other thefts. Unfortunately, it seems that he will not be able to reimburse all his victims:

Yep, a group of my friends was involved, apparently JAF handled it well! They were bussed to BRU, served wine on the bus and if understood everything well they were treated well as weel on the flight as well. They arrived at their destination with a delay of 2:45 but the atmosphere was good if you can read between the lines!

Some more issues with flight planning out of ANR today, the combined flights OST-BCN-ANR (& back) with E190 are split up: OO-JAU 737 doing the OST-BCN flight, and OO-JEB E190 was positioned OST->ANR late this afternoon and now is on its way to BCN.
But... their return flights are 'crossed' according to FR24, and also on BCN airport website. OO-JAU 737 (!!) is on its way to ANR (?) and OO-JEB E190 will have OST as its return destination. This last part is logical, because OO-JEB won't make it in time to return to ANR (now just over Paris on its way to BCN) and when arriving this night at OST, would bring it back again where it should be for tomorrow flights.

So... is OO-JAU really on its way to ANR ??!!

Just check some data on the 737-800... nope, it won't end up at ANR, me thinks.
I hope they have the necessary buses standing by to get the pax to their intended destination...
