The front section is 7-across instead of 9-across in the back. Very comfortable seats. I would say that it's worth the money.

Not really sure what you mean?
The only difference between economy and economy+ is legroom which is 75 cm vs. 85 cm in a 3-3-3 config.
On a 10-hour flight that can make a big difference imo.

I returned this week for Orlando Sanford via Miami to Brussels on OO-JNL, here is my experience :
Aircraft in Sanford on time... boarding starting on time.... left sitting on the aircraft for 2,5 hours !.
Sanford is not equipped for international air travel, it has 5 immigration officers on site.
So when arriving from BRU, passengers with final destination Orlando have to stay in board.
This is done so MIA passengers can pass immigration first and TUI can take off to MIA asap.
So while aircraft takes off to MIA the Orlando passengers are left in a long line waiting +90 min at Sanford immigrations.
Now for the return flight from Sanford to BRU, passengers could be left at the terminal (food / drinks) but boarding starts ASAP.
Simple reason, TUI does not know how long it is going to take for it's MIA to pass immigration.
So the decision is made to get return BRU on the aircraft and to keep them wait for the transit passengers, even if it takes 2,5 hours.
Calculate in many delays when traveling TUI to the US. The slightly lower price is not worth the hours your traveling. Not even mentioning to attitude you get when asking a question.
The second Dreamliner is NOT going to make a difference for TUI Belgium. Respect for the client and realistic operations would be more advisable.
Legroom is ok on OO-JNL but the real problem is the configuration 2-4-2.
In conclusion NOT DONE, NEVER EVER AGAIN TUI long distance product !.

You had a dreadful experience apparently. I would avoid OO-JNL at all costs: it is one of the very few B767s in the world with 8 seats across. This aircraft was built for a 2-3-2 configuration.
I also didn't know about the immigration issue at Sanford.

Does anyone know how TUI's automatic seat allocation system works?
When a flight leaves with empty seats, where are they usually? What are the last seats to be automatically allocated (assuming no one paid to select them of course)?

In all fairness 60-90 min to pass immigration is my experience on almost every major US airport when arriving from outside the US (LAX, MIA, JFK, ...) I'm always amazed by this and the state of the airports. Lack of investments since the 90ies or even 80ies sometimes it seems.

I had also some bad experiences when flying JAF to MIA ..Allways serious delays in departure and no info...A good alternative is flying via DUB with EI when going toWest Coast..You can do your US immigration in DUB and once arrived in US you can easily walk out, plane arrives at domestic gate ..

60-90 min normal to handle 1 flight, hmmmm, keeping your final destination passengers longer on board hmmmm :/
Keep in mind that TUI has a track record delaying flights long distance. I knew it was bad when i booked in all fairness, but the problem is not only because weather / technical / delays are created because the "cheaper" choice of Sanford for entrance to the US.
So with a little bad luck not only a TUI (jetairfly) but also TUI (thomsonfly) arrive at the same time, still want to be in line
As TUI should be one airline it would be better to do triangle flights connecting in Europe with only ONE destination in the US.
I think little passengers have a clue what to expect when booking TUI USA, It is just a mess !.

Ow, does TUI really fly 2-4-2 on the 767? That's really a no go for me... Has it always been like that, I mean also on OO-TUC and their previous 767s?

Big airports are not quicker, it took me 3 hours to clear immigration at LAX a couple of weeks ago, as we arrived just after an A380.

OO-JDL was on the engine test platform at BRU this morning, and has been towed back to the hangar in the meantime.
