Not a nice way to start. Only a few days after launch, Norwegian Air US-bound flight from Belfast is cancelled due to "staff sickness". I beg your pardon?

A Norwegian spokesman said: "Passengers are able to rebook free of charge on to another Norwegian flight or if they no longer wish to travel will be given a full refund. "We would like to sincerely apologise again to passengers for the inconvenience caused."

Nothing about EU261? :o

Norwegian Air eyes Monarch Airlines deal

The Press Association understands that Norwegian Air Shuttle has approached Monarch over a deal to buy all – or part – of the business as it looks to up the pressure on rivals easyJet and Ryanair.

The UK is a key market for Norwegian where the airline is looking for opportunities to expand.

Monarch, which is owned by private equity firm Greybull Capital, has hired KPMG to investigate options for overhauling or selling its short-haul business, with an eye to focusing on more lucrative long-haul routes.

Argentinian authorities back Norwegian start-up

Norwegian Air Argentina was on Wednesday night granted concessions to operate 153 routes from Argentina by the Argentine National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC). These concessions came as a result of the application and consultation of 156 routes.

The Norwegian Group established its Argentinian subsidiary in January 2017. Norwegian plans to have a considerable operation in Argentina that includes both domestic and international flights.
