Between 16h and 19h45/20h, all flights to TFS Tenerife had to divert or were cancelled.

Including TUI Belgium's TB-2113 (OO-JAQ), which diverted to Faro (Portugal).

Through a private message of Ali Chhaib (whom we thank for contacting us), we learned indeed that TFS Tenerife South was closed due to a damaged Jet2.com A330 aircraft on the runway. 24 flights have been divefrted, including OO-JAQ.

No news from OO-JAQ? It looks like the return flight TB2114 TFS-BRU has been cancelled...

The stopover at Gander was 03h00-05h30 UTC, so probably a medical diversion.

Gatwick was closed two times for a shortwhile on Sunday afternoon, causing many holds and a few diversions.

Reason: a drone...

OO-SFN doing SN286 Abidjan-BRU last night was diverted to Dakar, stayed there for about 2 hours and then returned to BRU.

Apparently the diversion was planned before take-off from ABJ, as the plane went straight to DKR right after taking off.

Anyone with an explanation?

Sorry! I just noticed that Homo Aeroportus had already reported that under Trivia 2017! He obviously woke up before me. :)

Yep, always get up at 0600 so I can put my towel on the beach.
But then I remember I am not on vacation and go to work ;)

A serious diversion that leaves three people injured after unruly passenger tries to get into the cockpit:

Delta flight security incident leaves 3 injured

A Delta Air Lines flight turned back after takeoff from Seattle to Beijing on Thursday night following a "security incident" in the first class cabin.

Initial information indicated an unruly passenger attempted to enter the jet's cockpit, according to two people briefed on the incident.

But Port of Seattle Airport spokesman Perry Cooper said the plane turned back after a passenger attacked a flight attendant in the first class cabin. He said the incident took place in the front part of the twin-aisle aircraft, in the first class cabin.

Several passengers stepped in to subdue the alleged attacker, Cooper said.

The Boeing 767 returned safely to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport around 7:40 p.m. local time under a Department of Defense escort, according to the two people briefed on the incident.

Brussels A330 in Boston!

Post by JustPlanes »

OO-SFN just took off on Runway 27 heading for JFK...
There was a lot of heavy rain in New York earlier so SN501 came in here for a visit...
Brings back all the memories of working Sabena at this airport for a dozen years :)
Hope Brussels will one day make this a destination again!

And on another note... this was poor planning by dispatch/ops. The bad weather was forecasted and 1 hour extra fuel was a must at the very least, this little detour will cost them 100x what the cost would have been of a few Tons of fuel... not to mention missed connections when this plane gets to JFK...
