There was a lot of heavy rain in New York earlier so SN501 came in here for a visit!..
this was poor planning by dispatch/ops. The bad weather was forecasted and 1 hour extra fuel was a must at the very least, this little detour will cost them 100x what the cost would have been of a few Tons of fuel... not to mention missed connections when this plane gets to JFK...

British Airways BA-117 LHR-JFK from that same 7th July was a mighty and powerfull 747-400. About the same arrival time. And also a divertion to Boston (after 25 minutes holding). Do you want the whole list with diversions and cxl for JFK that moment?
