Just had time to do some more digging:
It doesn’t seem to be a diversion (it was scheduled as a non-revenue flight, hence the “P” at the end of the callsign I figure), but went to LH Technik.

Norwegian Boeing 787 Dreamliner flight from London LGW to Boston diverts to Dublin ‘to offload luggage’

A passenger flight en route from London to Boston turned back and was diverted to Dublin on Sunday night after it was discovered a piece of luggage was on board without its owner.

The Norwegian flight took off from London Gatwick airport at 4.10pm but turned around about 45 minutes later over the Atlantic coast west of Ireland and landed in Dublin at 6.52pm.

The long-haul Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner can seat up to 344 passengers, but it is not clear if the flight was full.

A spokeswoman for Norwegian said the aircraft had been diverted to Dublin “to offload a piece of luggage”.

The passenger whom the luggage belonged to was not on board the aircraft, which is why this security measure was taken. We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused to the passengers.”

Lufthansa flight to Vancouver diverts because to Manchester of unruly passenger

A Boeing 747-400 from Lufthansa on its way from Frankfurt to Vancouver went to Manchester on Friday afternoon because of a rebellious passenger. The crew decided to make the stopover to get the passenger in question out of the plane.

Flight LH492 flew just north of Scotland when an incident occurred with an aggressive passenger. After the traveller was removed from the aircraft in Manchester, the flight could be resumed.

They should've never taken off then, as it was that important. I guess the US couldn't laugh with this security issue!

The plane landed safely and passengers were evacuated with slides. The passengers will be rerouted to GOT and the aircraft will now undergo a thorough examination.

AeroUnión 767 XA-LRC returned to LAX shortly after takeoff yesterday afternoon due to a bird strike to the right engine on takeoff. Eddie Heisterkamp made an impressive photograph for JetPhotos.

Bad weather in EHAM, expect multiple diversions to BRU.

Not a diversion but a missed approach by an Emirates A380 due to low-altitude on approach: https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/emira ... -york-jfk/

It's the second low altitude approach in three months, after the wrong approach at Moscow DME

On 21st Dec, Ryanair FR-2952 MAD-BRU Madrid-Brussels (EI-FTL) diverted to BOD Bordeaux:
https://www.flightradar24.com/data/airc ... tl#fe7c79a

After one hour on the ground, the same aircraft continued from BOD to BRU as FR-2954:
https://www.flightradar24.com/data/airc ... tl#fe82566

So most probably a medical diversion.

Yesterday's ANA flight #NH175 from Los Angeles to Tokyo NRT returned to LAX four hours into the flight, and it landed there 8 hours after departure: a passenger had boarded the wrong flight !!!! ANA initially listed the reason as "Due to flight arrangement"!

Eventually, the flight left again with a 16-hr delay.

https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/ana-a ... urs-nh175/

Wouldn't it have been cheaper to take the "unauthorized passenger" all the way to Tokyo and send him back to LAX by the first flight?

Most likely the captain send a message to the ANA operations center, they decided for the captain to head back to LAX ...

I wouldn't underestimate the fine an airline can get when the undeclared passenger steps onto destinations turf. Plus, it ain't as simple as keeping him in the terminal until the next flight can bring him back.

Higher than flying back four hours, changing crew, delaying aircraft, flying back to NRT ?
