Flight VY2151 came back to the terminal because the pilot detected a technical problem. Safety is our top priority and we decided to return to the terminal. We provide vouchers for all the passengers and the route will be operated with another plane.

And what happened later? Did another aircraft pick up the stranded Vueling passengers? I cannot retrieve that flight on FR24.

Meanwhile, another question: why does this TUI aircraft (E190 OO-TEA) take such a westerly route between Barcelona and Ostend?

At this very moment, the aircraft itself is on his way to Spain - thus probably with the passengers:

I don't know but I can add the fact a Royal Air Maroc (AT 844 CMN - BRU I think) also made an huge detour. It approached BRU from the North Sea like the traffic originating from the UK :?:

To avoid big slots on the normal route.

Went last week ANR-AGP (coincidently also on an E190) via Luxemburg, Alsace, Geneva, then crossing France completely to the other side, to Pau, and then straight down towards Malaga. Airspace congestion sometimes takes its toll...

Actually, EC-MBS did not fly to Malaga as VY2151 but operated flight VY8991 to Barcelona. Thus I still don't know what happened to the poor stranded passengers of VY2151...

OO-DWE eventually took off again with a delay of 3 hours.

It still doesn't say if, how and when the passengers reached their final destination Malaga. 😪

Not the best morning for the SN long haul fleet it seems. According to the Brussels Airport arrivals page:
- SN502 from New York: Cancelled
- SN552 from Toronto: Cancelled
- SN451 from Bujumbura/Kigali: Delayed from 6h45 to 9h20

Looks like a tough moment at SN Ops.

Per FlightStats.com, SFV was planned to run the JFK on Sunday. Then on Saturday late she was swapped with SFW that actually flew SN501 though departing 2 hours late.
It seems that SFW went AOG in JFK and the SN502 was cancelled.

OO-SFV originally planned for JFK was put on YYZ but .... never took off on Sunday, AOG in BRU.

Today Monday 17, SFV was fit to fly the SN501 to JFK and landed there about one hour later than STA.
Hopefully she will run the SN502 tonight.

Then FR24 shows an SN1451, operated by OO-SFN, without known destination but that actually landed at Toronto around 1700Z. Probably flying those Pax that were to fly to YYZ yesterday.
OK, so we had Pax stranded in YYZ on Sunday evening but SFN will bring them back tonight.

Hey, what about those in JFK?
Some must have been put on other flights, and others will come back to BRU with SFV.
But if some cannot fit in, would SN fly SFN from YYZ through JFK on her homeward bound leg?

Stay tuned, you will know in the next episode.
Never a dull moment.
:D

H.A.

PS : BTW, what is that flight number SN1451 to Toronto. Looks like a corrective 451 to Douala.

I wouldn't worry too much if I were a passenger. There is no lack of choice to cross the Atlantic.

I remember having been stranded in Montreal in Sabena times: the SN 747 was present, but still had to fly to Detroit and back before being able to pick me up to BRU and further on a LOT Tu-134 to WAW that I would certainly have missed (there were only 3 flights a week in that glorious period). I was thus rebooked on Air Canada to LHR and a connecting BA flight to WAW. Once in London, I saw it was faster to fly SN to BRU and take the originally planned LOT flight to WAW: my ticket got changed a second time by the local SN staff. And I arrived at WAW at the originally scheduled time :)
