But beside that, the government can't do that much against these strikes or send other staff, as the civil airports are privatized here and thus they don't have to react...
There is some good news to report, regarding strikes: the federal government has prepared a bill (wetsontwerp / project de loi) that will introduce "minimal service level" when Belgian Rail goes on strike. The bill still has to go through parliament, but all political parties supporting the government, have already agreed. The bill has been made public on 7th Sept 2017:

Let's hope the next bill will deal with "minimal service level at airports". Our government can use the Portugese legislation as guideline. Such new bill probably won't prohibit wildcat strikes like the latest Swissport thing, but strikes by public servants can be countered then.
Well yeah, but this bill is only for companies like the NMBS and BPost, so semi- or full companies owned by the State. So no companies from the airport and I am not sure that they can force employees of private companies to give minimal service or even prevent them to go on a wildcat strike.

Here we go again: Possible ATC strike in France on Tuesday 10th October.

Several Air Traffic Controller Unions in France have called for industrial action in support of a national call for strike on Tuesday 10th October. The industrial action will start on the evening of Monday 9th and end on the morning of Wednesday 11th.

There will be a telephone conference in French on Friday 6th October at 1130 UTC organised by DGAC/DSNA.

30% of the flights to be cancelled at CDG, ORY, Beauvais, Lyon, NCE, MRS, TLS, BOD, Nantes.

And on the same day, beware of the CGASP/ACOD strike in public services in Belgium: it might be difficult to go to Belgian airports by public transport.

TB2223 to Nador using OO-TEA and OO-JEM positioning to ANR, or will OO-JEM fly BRU-OST?

A general transport strike in Italy on 27 October could affect the schedule of Alitalia flights. 21 flights have already been cancelled on that date. Passengers should check the Alitalia website.

And when it's over in Italy, back to France!

That's such a d*** move from the French pilots. Honestly, I can understand that they want to organise a strike when this is the last solution, but it's very sad that it are always the passengers who have to carry the consequences. And the timing is even worse: let those passengers get at least to their families with Christmas and wait with the strike until those days are over.
