Ryanair will base 12 (twelve!) aircraft at Frankfurt, the very home base of Lufthansa which has a 60% market share at the airport.

Too bad they aren't flying between Frankfurt and Brussels. I think honestly this would be quite succesfull, as LH is the only one flying between BRU and FRA and not the cheapest prices.

Two and a half hours? Even for most pax without checked baggage? This is a disgrace. Apparently FR seek to protect themselves from EU 261!

It's not like LCC's care too much about passenger convenience anyway. 2,5hrs (minimum!) is indeed a lot of time to hang around.

On the other side, it the price is right, people will cope with it.

Why a disgrace?
You are happy with the 2,5 hr or not, if not don't buy the ticket simples!

Usually, it's the airports, not the airlines, that define minimum connecting times. And in European airports, from a Schengen destination to another one, those MCTs are around 40-45 minutes (with some airports going as low as 25-30 minutes).

At FCO the MCT is 45 (forty-five) minutes. If Ryanair says 150 minutes (more than three times more!), it shows they are very afraid to have to pay penalties:

FR knows that it's impossible if you have to go landsite....

You don't have to go landside when you connect on FR at FCO!

For decades, everything that FR does has been branded as disgraceful, yet it turns out that they do it very succesfully and no other airline in europe makes as much money as they do .... Name me one airline that pays EU261 with a smile?

Indeed. Not one airline pays it with a smile. But most airlines pay, contrary to Ryanair.

Contrary to your continued false news (to use your own terms) they do pay, and often as well

My alternative facts are very correct: Ryanair only pays indemnity when a court orders them to do so. Latest proof:
http://deredactie.be/cm/vrtnieuws.engli ... 1.2936714#
...A commercial court in Charleroi has ordered low-cost carrier Ryanair to pay a financial compensation to six Belgians because their flight was delayed. The ruling is a first: Ryanair usually tells unhappy passengers to make their case before an Irish court; now it's the first time a judge on the continent says that this is a no-go. Ryanair is to appeal. Ryanair did not deny the passengers were entitled to a compensation, but added they should do this via their procedures i.e. via an Irish court. This is to deter the people, the judge ruled, "this goes against their interests".

Ha Sean,..

Sorry but please don't defend what you can't !
FR is the worst airline ever involving passenger help and rights !
They are cheap and people know all the hassle and time it takes to get for a FR EU261 hasslement and thats the reason why most people don't bother to take them to court !
At least I did ,...
They have cheap tickets, are great value for money but regarding EU261 they are by far the worst airline, some airlines don't smile to pay but at least they are reasonable and do take EU laws serious ! Like BA ! For instance ...
FR your former boss gives you a standaard answer from DUBlin HQ, in short .. Fuck off is their answer ,.. If you want money when in your right court is the only option!

Defending this solution is really acting as a child !

With respect but be serious ,..

My single 261 experience with Ryanair a few months ago just required a single email to get payment. I was also properly informed of my rights at the gate (4 hour delay), where I also got a food voucher.

Earlier experiences with Swiss and Lufthansa all escalated to a letter threatening legal action. Absolutely no information about my rights (last minute cancellations both times).
