The immigration hall is definitely too small! So is the area with the conveyor belts where you're waiting for your luggage (55 minutes last time!!!). I also noticed lots of loose tiles in the ceiling, but that can have been due to maintenance work. I think the Walloon government should invest some money into the airport facilities. I don't see why CRL couldn't became a second airport for Brussels (read : Belgium, we're small enough for that), but it'll have to make sure it keeps up with the pace, otherwise both airlines and travellers might still prefer to use BRU if the price difference isn't too great.

I guess Charleroi Airport hasn't made a lot of noise about this possible new airline, because it's simply not there yet. No point in announcing a new airline at your airport if you're not sure it'll even ever manage to get off the ground.

Well at least they're advertising now!

Ok it's a small ad, but I noticed they placed an advert in the popular "Petite Gazette" section of "Le Soir" a few days ago...
With the telephone number of their GSA for reservations.
And at a price of 499€, it's more than current promo by Alitalia and KLM!

Hi
I try, since my last post, to find a confirmation from africa to this new compagny or for flight to CRL
I found absolutly nothing
Senegal Airways is not registred in usual data bank reagding airline compagnies, I did not found IATA or OACI code....
I think more and more that we are in front of a super "PAPER COMPAGNY" made in africa
A GSM number for reservatiion !!!!!!
wait and see
certainly more wait than see

In Africa everything is possible Michel...
I know of an airline there with the name:
1Time Airlines
code: 1T
No joke, they fly Cape Town Int (CPT), Johannesburg Int (JNB) and Durban (DUR)
The story does not say if they have a frequent flyer scheme: the 1Time, FF-card, would be a nice one to have!

Hello!

Today, Sept 20, "Le Soir" readers can once again see the advert for Sénégal Airways (page 20).

Roughly translated it says :
"Weekly flights Charleroi - Dakar on Saturdays.
Promotional price 499€ all taxes included.
For departures October 9, 16 or 23: buy 1 ticket, get 1 free (conditions apply)
For more info, call GSA Atex 02-643.45.33"

Michel: maybe they can help you get more info at that number...

But at this point, I wouldn't yet trust them with my credit card number.... ;-)

In his latest interview, Jossart, the boss of BSCA, said that negotiations were underway with an unnamed airline for Dakar flights. Trust me, they know!

..oh yes they read Luchtzak's the Senegal Aw logo/link just added on CRL web site.
In fact it was not a joke an african Company recently planned flignts to Paris CDG whitout having flight rights to France or slot to CDG and indeed never star.

I saw an ad for this airline, with their flights from Charleroi to Dakar, in the Metro newspaper a few days ago.

their site http://www.senegalairways.com/ is not very clear but there it is marked that the flight is operated by A310, via Barcelona

hi
in fact il will be a CRL/DRK/CRL flight and not a DKR/CRL/DRK one (with a sop in Barcelone on each way) it means an european aircraft (or at least an aircraft based in Europe)

hi
Oh yes Eagle is THE specialist in France of this type of flight/airline but I am surprised as Eagle usually use its two A310 on charters flight for various TO during the week end. The flight for african airlines took pkace on week days.
May be they got less charter contract for winter months ? I try to know

I think indeed that, if they can get BTS-CRL traffic rights, it could be a nice addition to the business of CRL airport.

hi André
Oh I hope for this new project that a "commercial flight" BST CRL will take place otherwise I shall be surprised that with low fare prices announced the airline beeing life for long time. The ferrying from BST is a 1 1/2 or 2 hours flight, its not a peanut ferrying!!
Do you have an ideaof the average price of an ACMI contrat Europe /Africa for a 200/250 seats aircraft ?
