It's business as usual at Istanbul's airports.

AF-1390 CDG-IST is about to land.

West Atlantic 767-200 (Freighter) from Istanbul SAW to LGG took off 20 minutes ago.

BAW from LHR turning back while on approach (FL250).
KLM from AMS turning back vertical BUD.
DHL from FRA turning back shortly after take off.

Better safe than sorry and no SAS on board so why carrying on?

According to EuroNews, IST is closed, or at least all incoming and outgoing flights are cancelled...

This being said, I am not too afraid for the future of THY or Pegasus: they seem to run free of political interference. Once law and order will be re-established, they will prosper further.

Not really a quite evening down there.

KLM is landing at VIE
BAW landed at SOF
AFL and GAF are turning away.
Some inbound THY drawing circles as LTBA seems now closed.

What to expect? Business as usual as from tomorrow morning I guess.

The Netherlands has issued a negative travel advise for Istanbul and Ankara last night. Dutch carriers are therefore not allowed to fly to IST and ESB. But me thinks the Dutch travel advise is very temporary and will probably be lifted very soon (if not already lifted by now).
