but a few lines later they mention they will not operate from both airports in the same time (and they take the opportunity to laugh at ryanair).

It looks like they want to push a lot of pressure on the walloon gov to extend the track in CRL.

According to the ch-aviation aircraft database, Finnair has operated seven A340-300s over the past eleven years of which three are destined to be scrapped and four (including OH-LQE) are destined for start-up Air Belgium.

Don't worry... I think it was just a little joke... The main information is that Air Belgium is looking for "connectivity"... In that purpose and if they choose to establish their base at CRL, then Ryanair could become a potential strategic partner regarding PAX feeding. The same does apply for brussels airlines if Air Belgium goes BRU...

Interesting article. They would like to start up at the end of June with 4 A340 as from Brussels Airport or Charleroi. Liege is not in the running bcs no connections and this is what this new airline need: connections

I very much doubt that LH would allow SN to cooperate with AB. LH will for sure try to get every Asia passenger travel via FRA/MUC, or on direct SN flights ( to BOM for example).

Wel an A340 needs a runway of 3000 metres for taking off. CRL has a runway of 2550m...It will be 3200 m in 2022. As we said in french "La messe est dite ? "

An A340 can take off from CRL with weight restrictions,I guess.But what would be the maximum range with a full PAX load (taking less fuel) or what would be the max nr of PAX/cargo with maximum possible fuel then? i.e. what would be the payload/range graph look like considering the limited runway lenghth of 2550m,height and belgian tempaverages? Anyone?

If they want to start to operate in April or - more probably - in June this year, they got to take a decision urgently regarding their base (BRU, CRL, LGG?) but also to announce their destinations... in fact, we don't really know about their future offer... it is still too fuzzy!

I fully agree brusselsairlinesfan... I have difficulties to imagine they can fill planes to exotic China destinations with booking systems only opening a few months before launch. They should move quickly IMHO to avoid planes at 20pc load factor during - for them in the first years probably - the most lucrative season. It is not we are talking about Malaga or Berlin, but trips people want to plan long in advance. Except business people, OK, but will they easily let go their FF miles earned on Star, Sky or Oneworld to fly with an unknown carrier... ? Although I wish them all the best, as I am convinced the ones joining their forces do it with all their heart... But it is time to act in my opinion.
