Bad news for all KLM passengers: the unions have won it, so the judge allows longer strikes. So as from Wednesday, it will be 40 minutes delay for all flights outgoing flights (= out of AMS).Passenger wrote:Meanwhile, KLM has sued the unions because of the the strikes and the unions' refusal to discuss. The law case starts today.

Update on the KLM/trade unions dispute: 60 minutes as from Saturday.
I wonder if they will keep flying AMS-BRU-AMS because delays for this feeder flight could become too high. Only outgoing flights are delayed (thus AMS-BRU), but return flights with the same aircraft (BRU-AMS) will suffer from the incoming delay.
Meanwhile, KLM estimates the damage so far between 6 and 7 mio Euro.

... and as a result, KLM starts scrapping flights as of Saturday: Mexico City KL0687, Berlin KL1835 and London KL1011. All Brussels flights still maintained (until now), but probably delayed.Passenger wrote:Update on the KLM/trade unions dispute: 60 minutes as from Saturday.

Re: Strikes affecting Belgian airports in 2016
It seems that the KLM strikes are over: talks between unions and management have resumed. But another strike looms that could affect BRU: the Lufthansa pilots are ready to strike again pay talks collapsed.
Lufthansa pilots are threatening to strike after talks on pay between their union and the management of Germany's largest airline collapsed.
The union, Vereinigung Cockpit, which represents around 5,400 pilots at the company, said on Monday (today) strike action at the main Lufthansa airline brand and its cargo arm was possible at any time, although it would give 24 hours' notice of a walkout.
Talks on new contracts for 5,400 pilots at the Lufthansa, Lufthansa Cargo and Germanwings divisions have been going on for four years and have resulted in more than a dozen strikes at one of Europe's largest airlines.
This would be the 14th Lufthansa pilot strike since April 2014 !!!

The Verdi trade union has announced a strike of its members among the Eurowings cabin crew in Dusseldorf & Hamburg for this Tuesday, 22.11.16. It should not affect the Stuttgart base and its flights to Brussels, but one never knows...
One strike that will affect Brussels is the Vereinigung Cockpit call for a pilot strike on Wednesday Nov. 23 from 00:01 until 23:59. Lufthansa short- and long-haul flights from Germany are affected.

... and also Saturday !!! Lufthansa pilots to extend strike to 26 November 2016 for long-haul flights only.
Lufthansa announced that 137 flights will be cancelled on 26 November 2016 due to strike action. Over 95% of all Lufthansa Group flights will still take place, which seems to include the Brussels flights from FRA and MUC.

After the cabin crew, it's now the turn of KLM pilots to threaten to strike, also over pensions. Their union VNV has developed an action plan, but this does not automatically mean they will strike.
Wait and see...

A strike notice has been served by the unions of ASL Airlines Belgium (ex-TNT Airways) at Liege Airport. The unions say that the work conditions and the social relations have worsened since the sale of the airline by TNT to ASL.

Unions useless .... to put things in perspective 15% of the crew in BA belongs to the Union that wants to strike, about 21% of those 15 voted not to strike. I expect disruption to be minimal. The headline should really be: minority of BA crew has voted to strike.sn26567 wrote:British Airways cabin crew have voted to strike

The Unite union of BA cabin crew intends to strike at Christmas (25 and 26 December). BA says that "We are planning to run a full schedule on Christmas Day and Boxing Day despite proposed industrial action by Unite. [13:03GMT 19DEC]" and Chairman Alex Cruz says action will 'fail'.
Strike or no strike? Sean?
Anyway, I don't think many people fly on these dates...
