Just saw this on French news:
It is estimated that 60 million crickets have invaded Nice airport (not the terminal building).
The crickets are believed to have grow in size with the recent heat in the South of France and came from fields nearby the airport. This fortunately has no impact on passengers as well as flights. But if they continue to eat all the grass they could cause a lot of dust which could be more of a nuissance than a safety factor for the airport.
The airport has decided to spray the 100 hectares of land it owns with pesticide. This will be done tonight.
