Charter activity of SN Brussels Airlines booms

For the first time in its history, SN Brussels Airlines has developed this summer season a huge charter activity. During the weekends of July and August, up to 40 holiday flights are operated. In the course of the upcoming weekend for example, 16 aircraft of SN Brussels Airlines will fly holidaymakers to European sunny destinations.

Offering scheduled services continues to be the core business of SN Brussels Airlines. But during the summer months and weekends, when aircraft capacity is available, SN also operates charter flights. While the charter operations were limited in the past to ad hoc and incentive flights, this year SN has teamed up with several tour operators in Belgium, France, the UK and Switzerland. The charter activity has become in no time an important revenue resource.

This summer holiday flights are operated not only from Brussels but also from Eindhoven, Geneva, Lille, Paris CDG, Toulouse, Lyon, Bristol and Newcastle to the Balearic Islands, Corsica, Sicily, the Italian mainland, Croatia and Austria. “On average we welcome every single weekend more than 4.000 holidaymakers on our charter flights”, says SN’s charter manager Patrick Dom. “Our charter production is much higher than expected.”

Touroperators Jetair / TUI, Nouvelles Frontières, CIT, Club Med, Wasteels, Frantour, Geo Découvertes and Holiday Options have contracted SN Brussels Airlines for their air transport needs. “Our good price/quality relationship, our multilingual crews, our flexibility and service explain the success”, says Patrick Dom. “Our fleet composition allows touroperators to contract aircraft with 82, 84, 97 and 132 seats. And all our aircraft have a very comfortable seating you only find on scheduled carriers. We offer leg space and leather seat comfort.”

SN has the intention to further expand its charter activity. Already several contracts have been signed for the winter season 2004-2005.

As I allread mentioned else where, it's nice to see them filling the gap during weekends with charter flights.

I really hope they'll get more contract for the winter like they mention, because it's always sad to go to BRU on a weekend and to see all those planes parked near the old C terminal. :(

I'm not sure there are still a lots of charter flights operated on an A319 (132 seats!): this year they are much busier elsewhere than last year, when they opperated a lot of summer flights for Sobelair.
