CityJet's first Sukhoi Superjet SSJ100 (s/n 95108) is in the assembly line of the Komsomolsk factory:

But since VLM ordered their SSJ100s before CityJet, where is the first VLM one?

That's not exactly the plan of VLM: they want to use the SSJ100s for themselves.

"...Cityjet will use the SSJ100 as the replacement for its fleet of Avro RJ85 which it operates across Europe, including London City Airport. The SSJ100 will achieve the necessary certification for London City operations by the end of 2016..."

http://www.superjetinternational.com/me ... t-renewal/

Seems to be a great example of calculated risk: the Sukhoi will be certified for London City "by the end of 2016". And what if...

EASA CERTIFIES THALES AUTOPILOT FOR SSJ100

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) recently certified the autopilot Thales is supplying for the SSJ100 for Category IIIA approaches.

Thales has been working on the SSJ100 programme since 2005, for which it was selected to supply a complete avionics suite with autopilot. The SSJ100 obtained its first certification from Russian certifying body IACAR in February 2011, followed by EASA certification in 2013.

Development of the automatic landing function was a major requirement to enable the aircraft to serve large airports every day even in low-visibility conditions.

Air France may rent SSJ100 aircraft from Irish CityJet

CityJet may lease the Sukhoi Superjet 100 planes it is going to purchase in Russia to the French flag carrier Air France.

CityJet announced its decision to buy 15 SSJ100 planes, with an option to purchase 10 more aircraft, in mid-October. The contract is expected to be signed in February with the first 3 aircraft to be delivered before the end of the year, before the SSJ100 has been certified to be operated on the short runway at London City Airport, making the lease interesting for the Irish airline.

"It is being discussed, it is up to CityJet. We just sell them airplanes. It is their commercial affairs. Among those interested in wet lease there is Air France," an Irish source told Russian press agency RIA Novosti.

According to Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCA), 64 SSJ100 are currently in operation, including 26 operated by Russia's Aeroflot airline, 19 planes operated by the Mexican airline Interjet and 10 by Gazpromavia.

Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency, Rosaviatsia, has restricted Moscow-based Red Wings Airlines’ air operator’s certificate (AOC), prohibiting it from SSJ100 aircraft operations. The decision takes effect from July 1.

The restriction was made after an inspection carried out earlier this year, Rosaviatsia said in a statement.

SSJ100 certified by EASA to use narrow runways

News : SSJ100 certified by EASA to use narrow runways August 16, 2016
Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC) has been certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to operate its Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) aircraft on runways as narrow as 30 metres.

The certification process was triggered by request of CityJet, the first airline to begin operating the SSJ100 aircraft in Europe, this June. CityJet has 15 firm orders for SSJ100s and options for 16 more of the type.

SCAC hopes to enable SSJ100 operations from London City Airport, one of CityJet’s key hubs – which has both a short and narrow runway – by December 2017. A safe narrow runway approach will be guaranteed by wing-flap system modernisation as well as FMS and avionics improvements. Flight tests are to be started in the summer of 2017. SCAC hopes to further improve SSJ100 operations by installing horizontal winglets in 2018.

Ilya Tarasenko, president of SCAC, stated, “In ongoing work, we are developing the product and enhancing its operation capabilities, so we are receptive to feedback from customers. Not only do we deliver the aircraft within the shortest term in the market, but we also perform additional activities regarding their customisation.”

Due to a lack of pilots in its Nordic Regional Airlines (ex Flybe Nordic) subsidiary, Finnair is leasing a Cityjet SSJ100-95 until 14 September to operate flights to Warsaw (1 daily), Geneva (4 weekly) and Billund (3 weekly).
