Sobelair's last two Boeing 767-300s to fly for Hainan Air

Post by OO-SBZ »

After the sale of Sobelair's three owned Boeing 737s (-329 OO-SBZ, 4B6 OO-SBJ and -429 OO-SBM), there are still two grounded Boeing 767-300s wearing the color of the defunct carrier.

However the birds will be delivered to Hainan Airlines in the 3rd quarter of this year.

Made her first flight on 18/02/2000 and flew for Sobelair from 04/04/2000.
The bird will become B-2561.

Made her first flight on 09/11/2000 and flew for Sobelair from 22/11/2000.
The bird will become B-2562.

Any extra information is welcome

Looks like Sobelair had quite recent planes in its fleet. What a pity to see them go :(

Indeed André...

These Boeing 767-300ERs built in 2000 replaced the carrier's first two 767-300ERs...

 OO-SBY - Boeing 767-33A ER 27310 LN:545
Made her first flight on 17/06/1994 and flew for Sobelair from 24/06/1994 to 11/2000.
Afterwards the bird left SLR's fleet for Vietnam Airlines as VN-A768.
Since 08/07/2003 she is flying for Air Europa as EC-IQA (leased by AWAS).

 OO-STF - 767-328 ER 27212 LN:531
Made her first flight on 07/02/1994 and was to fly one month later for Air France as F-GHGK but never entered commercial service and was stored for 2 years at Le Bourget. Since AF did not need the Boeing, she was due for Air Calédonie International (ACI) but the airline eventually didn't take up the airplane...
She was part of Sobelair's fleet from 13/06/1996 till 05/2001. She wore the title "Spirit of Brussels" on her nose.
Afterwards the bird left SLR's fleet for Asiana Airlines as HL7200.

As you can see Sobelair's long-haul fleet had always been recent...

Wow, what a coincidence... Guess where I am now and the next coming two months... Hainan Island, South China... ;)

Any idea of the exact dates when the planes will be deliverd to Hainan Airlines? Will they fly to Hainan Meilan airport or somewhere else?
Also, will they be painted before or after delivery? All these questions cause I'd like to get some pictures of this delivery...

If i'm not mistaking these will be the biggest planes so far in the Hainan Airlines fleet (which is by the way a pretty good airline to Chinese standards, way better than China Southern for example...)

Hoping for some answers, will be very happy to share the pics with you guys if I can take'em...

Tommy
