FAA extends ban to Tel Aviv an additional 24 hours .

I didn't hear of any other Hamas rockets near the airport though...

And the 757 of Secretary of State John Kerry was allowed to fly to TLV...

As all LH Group airlines halt their operations to TLV.
What will happen with flight SN1591, the party charter flight for Tomorrowland ?

The Federal Aviation Administration announced late Wednesday night that U.S. carriers were allowed to resume flights to and from Tel Aviv.

For the additional flights to TLV, SN follows the same policy as for the scheduled flights, so they are cancelled as well.

Since customers had an all-in package (flights + tickets for the festival), they can chose to be reimbursed, OR alternatively roll over their tickets to next year.

Most of them had already cancelled after being recalled in the army reserve. The previous TML flight was more than half empty for that reason.

After FAA lifted its ban, EASA also lifts recommendation to avoid Tel Aviv Ben Gourion International Airport after contact with Israeli authorities.

Despite the EASA advice, the Lufthansa Group (including Brussels Airlines) suspends flight operations to and from Tel Aviv for a further 24 hours until 25 July.

Iberia starts flying again tonight (with an A330!), easyJet tomorrow, Jetairfly on Sunday.

British Airways never stopped flying...

CTBke has a point. Better be safe than sorry.
Israel want the flights to continue for their own political agenda to show Hamas that they are not afraid of them.

I applaud the LH Group. It's better to sit this one out.
It's not great for SN and their Tomorrowland charters, but I applaud them for taking this IMO right decision. If the aircraft was already half-cancelled, then it's also not viable financially anyway.

I feel for the young Israeli's who've been recalled to fight. But I hope that instead of hating the Palestinians for ruining their party, they head into Gaza with the same ideals that they were coming to TML for: peace, love, unity, respect.

Today Israel has attacked a UN school with tanks, killing 7 children and injuring hundreds. I hope that those young Israeli's who are missing TML realise that they have a chance to show the right path to their heartless leaders. That is to lay down their weapons and go down the Gaza streets embracing their Palestinian neighbors. Then they'll deserve to have a TML dedicated to them.

One might wonder why El Al kept flying when most other airlines stopped serving TLV. The answer is simple: the El Al fleet (as well as the fleet of the other Israeli airlines: Arkia and Israir) is equipped with anti-missile shields since 2013. El Al started already equipping its aircraft after the failed attack by a SA-7 missile against a B757 of Arkia at Mombasa in 2002.

The C-Music system (MUlti-Spectral Infrared Countermeasure) developed by Elbit Systems was paid for by the Israeli government. It causes a higher fuel consumption, that the government however refuses to pay...

The C-Music system detects ground-to-air missiles with thermal guidance thanks to infra-red sensors. Once a missile is detected, the system sends a laser beam which perturbs the navigation system of the missile to change its path.

The system will not react to the more sophisticated weapons that Hamas might have received from terrorists groups in Lybia which were able to take such missiles after the fall of Gaddafi.

Royal Jordaian might have suspended the route too.
