Ryanair Boeing 737-200s : the beginning of the end...

Post by OO-SBZ »

As expected Irish budget carrier Ryanair is withdrawing its Boeing 737-200s from use.

Here is the list of the planes which are already grounded (see the "the Prestiwck 3") or about to be disposed of.

EI-CJC Boeing 737-204 22640/867 Fr disp (Hertz c/s)
EI-CJD Boeing 737-204 22966/946 WFU Dublin Fr disp (Eircell c/s)
EI-CJE Boeing 737-204 22639/863 Fr disp (Jaguar c/s)
EI-CJF Boeing 737-204 22697/953 Fr disp
EI-CJG Boeing 737-204 22058/629 Fr disp
EI-CJH Boeing 737-204 22057/621 WFU - Strd Prestwick Fr disp
EI-CJI Boeing 737-2E7 22875/917 Fr disp
EI-CKP Boeing 737-2K2 22296/668 WFU Dublin Fr disp
EI-CKQ Boeing 737-2K2 22906/888 WFU - Strd Prestwick Fr disp
EI-CKR Boeing 737-2K2 22025/647 WFU - Strd Prestwick Fr disp
EI-CKS Boeing 737-2T5 22023/636 WFU - Strd Prestwick - White 10th Aniversary titles

As a reminder, the second batch of 737-200s (including the Vodaphone and Kilkenny logo-jets) should leave in March 2005 whereas British Buzz (RYR's UK branche) will return the 737-300s later this year. We can therefore expect Ryanair to have an all 737-800 fleet.

Thanks for that info!
Would there be any chance some could live to see another flight? In Africa for example? Or will they all be scrapped?
Will FR stop the logojets, or will we see some -800's with Hertz etc paint?

Another question: will the 737-300's of Buzz Stansted LTD be replaced by 737-800's or will Buzz be shut down?

Sad to see the end of the FR logojets. I had hoped to see "Jaguar" again and get a photo of it because it was damned impossible to photograph it from the departure lounge at BHX

Jaguar was the classiest of the logojets and looked superb against a blue sky
Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.

We can suppose Mr Ryanair could answer your question...
With the disposal of the Boeing B733-3Q8's, the future of the Buzz brand is uncertain.

Also to me, it's a shame they will be grounded in the near future (although they get old...). I have myself flown with the Jaguar-logojet 2 times (CRL-PIK and back again). Shame I wasn't allowed to take a pic from it at Prestwick... Nice plane!

After the 732s are disposed of, will Ryanair paint some 737-800s or 737-300s in the colors of the different logojets?
Onward and Upward...

Nice planes, but BAD seats !!! They are the kind of seats you expect in a bus in Congo, not in an airplane. Completely rubbish! Thank god they're gone in a few months...
They should repaint a 738 in the Jaguar & Hertz livery, would look good & and very good confort!

As reported on this site, the 737-300s (operated by Buzz, RYR's UK wholly owned company) will be returned to the lessor at the end of this year (2004). As a result don't expect them to be resprayed: I am sure they will fly in their tatty condition... till the end.

As far as the Boeing 737-800s are concerned nothing has been disclosed yet...

The disposal and storage has begun:

 EI-CJE Boeing 737 -204 22639/863 Jaguar c/sSTN-PIK 24jun04 for storage ex G-BJCU
 EI-CJF Boeing 737-204 22697/953 To be WFU 30/06/2004

As a result the Jaguar bird is waiting for a new lease of life...
