Bus services to Eindhoven Airport from many Belgian cities

Postby sn26567 » 19 Jan 2012, 13:10

Eindhoven is on the way to compete with Charleroi for low-cost traffic. To improve its attractivity, the airport is launching bus services to a handful of Belgian cities: Turnhout, Antwerpen, Kontich, Mechelen, Leuven, Louvain-la-Neuve, Genappe and Charleroi !!!

More than 7 fast coaches daily in each direction (i.e. from Eindhoven to Charleroi and v/v)

That is a two-way service : it can also be used by Dutch people to come and take a flight at Charleroi.
I am not sure which airport will profit most from that bus line, Eindhoven or Charleroi.

Can it also be used by Dutch people to, say, visit Antwerpen, or is it not very cost-effective for that purpose?

Yes you can. The only 2 people on the 9.00 AM bus from Eindhoven today were Dutch people on a day trip to Antwerp. :-)

I spoke with the manager of the bus company (ADS) this morning, en he told me that they expect a lot of people on the routes between Turnhout and Eindhoven and between Leuven (Louvain) and Charleroi.

As I'm living very close to Turnhout I know it's quite a trip to BRU (with the train it takes quite some time, especially in the weekend when you have to go through Antwerp) and with the car it's ok as long it is not to busy on the roads (so also a big problem in the peak times). To get in CRL it's even worse. So Eindhoven is often much easier if you are living in the north of the province Antwerp. So if enough pax know about the bus service and the flights they can take out of Eindhoven I'm sure this service will have succes indeed. But the biggest problem may be to make people aware they can get with the bus to Eindhoven and they can often fly cheap out of that airport.

Hi,

They offer a EIN-CRL bus service with multiple stops in Belgium.

That company does exist !
I occasionally have seen their bus awaiting its next departure in front of the terminal at CRL - but I have never travelled with them.
