Czech Airlines (CSA) on Wednesday said it would open a tender in the coming days for 12 airplanes to renew its mid-range fleet. Both new generation of Boeing 737 and planes of the Airbus A320 family fulfil CSA's demands for modernisation of its mid-range fleet.
Czech Airlines, member of the Sky Team alliance, now have 28 737-400 Boeings serving mid-range destinations. CSA added it would also add one Airbus A310-300 to its long-haul fleet this year.
and have a couple of points to make.
1. How do you add a comment to a news item?
2. I am not sure where the infomation came from but CSA do not operate 28 737-400's. Currently they have 11 737-400's and 12 737-500's
Indeed CSA is operating 3 (or 4?) A310-300, but if I'm not mistaken, they are looking for new long-haul aircrafts. So we can assume that the middle haul fleet renewal choice will drive the long haul one.

1. You can read a news item from either the home page or the 'Latest News' page. If you are at the home page, you click on the title of the news you want to read: it brings you to the page with complete news item. There you scroll down until you see the button "Post comment". If you are on the latest news page, you scroll down the news item you want to comment, you click on "comment?", and at the new page you scroll down until you see the "Post comment" button.
2. The news was published by CNN. But you are right: some of the so-called 737-400s are indeed -500s. They were initially purchased for Sabena, which had no use for them and tranferred them to CSA through their common shareholder at that time, Air France.
I hope they choose airbus, that certainly would be the best for fleet commonality since they operate the (old) A310 too.
You can't argue about fleet commonality, when the airline operates 2 A310's. The A310 is really different from an A320. And in addition to that they have far more boeing's in their fleet than Airbus' .

But I don't see why we can't discuss the subject of the news item in here
