Equipment change on TUB long haul flights.

Post by Skystef »

Britannia made its last inbound flight for TUB on May 01 and is replaced by this TF-FIB operated by Icelandair. Flights of FI continue nomally the whole month.

I guess this is good news for TUI passengers, after all the criticism we heard about Britannia?

I was lucky to potograph the Brittania 767 in Thomson-colors this morning. What confuses me a little bit is that flights now will be carried out by Icelandair with TF-FIB but the company is Av8 (???).
Will the plane be in the Av8- or Icelandair-colors. Furthermore, I don't think Icelandair has 767's and I think the plane belongs to Air Atlanta Icelandic.
Am I correct ?

AV8 Air is in fact the trading name of Man Air.com Ltd.

The company did not manage to gain its own AOC (kind of flying license for an airline). As a result they are not allowed to use their planes for any passenger flight. Boeing 757-23A G-OAVB is indeed grounded and for disposal.

However the Icelandair Boeing 767-383ER will continue to operate under the Icelandair AOC for the foreseeable future.

As a reminder, EasyJet operated under Air Foyle's AOC in its earlier stage.

What are the complaints all about with Britannia: seatpitch, service, language-problem?????

I heard TCK customers also complain about belgiumexel, but than again I heard this from people working for TCK airlines. So .....maybe these are just rumours like usual.

Thx for the report André, let's hope things will improve with AirAtlanta Icelandic.

By the way, I saw once a video about an inside cabin view of a Britannia 767, is it possible that those A/C have a 2+4+2 abreast seating iso the regular 2+3+2???????

I wouldn't be surprised if it is, after all it's a charter which sells seats at low prices and has to make profit in the same time

The only solution  more seats

Britannia's Boeing 767s are indeed fitted with a 2+4+2 abreast seating...

Sorry to disappoint the photographers, but the plane isn't worth a visit as i just saw its jacket is changed to all white with no titles.

sab319: Emirates put 3-4-3 into a B773...

It is very common for charter airlines to put 2-4-2 into a B763...

This in combination with for example 30inch seatpitch would be quite cramped for people measuring more then 1m90...

As a result, if you intend to fly these charter airlines: don't eat and don't grow too much...

2-3-2 indeed

Post by veldmuis »

I was on FI's first 'white label' flight for TUB, and I can assure you it was a normal "2-3-2" B767-300ER.

Indeed, Icelandair has no 767s for its own scheduled business, but has one for long haul wet lease charter work (some months for AV8 to CPT until 30.04, from 01.05 until the end of May for TUB's long haul destinations).

positive : above average quality of 'charter' meals, special meals for kids, friendly staff, regular drink service

neutral : blankets were available

negative : moving map out-of-order, no inflight magazine

If you see their new company always is delayed for 2-3 hours, i guess britania was a little more punctual and also that is important for passangers. I guess the new company is Icelandair :?:
