I've heard from the TUB crew on board the Icelandair flights that the passengers are not happy at all. Even the TUB crew is not happy working with the Icelandair crew. Passengers have given numerous complaint letters on every flight. TUB will probably start their long haul operations just after the summer.

delay and old piece of junk

Post by skeeleraar »

Ive just got of the flight with the icelandair 767 - 300 .... from montego bay to brussels... we had about 5 hours delay, caused by technical probs... and 3 weeks ago, it had to make an emenrgency landing after departing in brussels, or so our travelling compagnons, who were on that flight, siad.
The plane is, just as the one from brittania completely white, 2 - 3 - 2 in econ class and 2 - 2 - 2 in first class...
crew and food where above average tho :) but for some bizar reason, they only played movies spoken in french on both the flights from and 2 brussels :(

I am confused. Is the aircraft operated by Air Atlanta Icelandic or Icelandair?

Thanks,

Flights are FI = Icelandair.

I checked the BIAC website several times these last few days, and indeed FI seems to be always many hours late (average 5 hours), as well on departure as on arrival. Today it is even worse:

Arrivals:
14/07 07:55 Varadero via Cancun FI 1846 Image 17:19

Departures:
14/07 09:25 Puerto Plata via Punta Cana FI 1843 Image 18:30

@ Skeeleraar,

Thanks for posting your experience and welcome to Luchtzak!

@Flying-Belgian, indeed a mixed crew, as reported earlier in this thread.

The problem with those delays, is that there is only one plane doing the route. In addition to that there isn't a lot of time between the arrival in BRU and the departure. This means that if the plane gets one time a delay let's say 3-4 hours, the flights will have this delay for a long period., because the plane cannot make up that much time during flights.

As expected after yesterday's late departure, there is a new late arrival this morning:

15/07 06:20 Punta Cana via Puerto Plata FI 1844 Image 15:47 Boeing 767-300ER

But since there is no departure today, they will be able to depart on time tomorrow!

Nope! On-time departure today, as I predicted:

16/07 08:00 Cancun via Varadero FI 1865 Image 08:18

But another question:

16/07 06:20 Las Palmas TUB2593 Image 06:48 A310-300

Which airline?

TUI has reportedly prolonged contract with FI for the B767-300ER TF-FIB till October 15th (correction). This aircraft is also used by TUI for flights to Egypt (ie today operating to HRG) and explains the 6 days a week utilization and the rotational delays. Looks like there will be no 767 for TUB this summer. The ruthless Icelandic ACMI power house has struck again !
