Nice move once again from JAF! I also heard excellent comments about the Azores. Nice and peaceful with fantastic landscapes and many things to discover. And this without being too far from Belgium... :-)

I am also looking forward to seeing the plans for their new "small" aircrafts foreseen for 2013.
Plus their 1st B787 which is foreseen in late 2013 and the 2nd one in 2015 if all goes well. Hopefully JAF will continue that way, but one thing is sure, it's a smart airline with a bright future.

For 2012, another B738 is expected to join the fleet together with a B737-700.

but why did they choose Skopje ? Half a day is enough to visit the old town, museum and eat some Burek

Ohrid though is a lovely lakeside town

Do you think Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium will have difficulties to survive?

Well, according to the latest balance (fiscal year 2009/2010) Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium NV posted a profit of about 25 million EUR (small increase, 2008/2009 was 23 million EUR) or about 8x as much as Tui Airlines Belgium NV which only posted 3 million EUR of profit... So it doesn't seem that they are doing that bad I guess. ;)

According to Markku Ahteela (SN area manager- Nordic countries and Russian Federation), SN is not only interested in more flights to Moscow, but also adding new destinations like Saint-Petersburg. But for now SN doesn't have the permission to fly to any other Russian city.
SN said they will have to force the negotiations between Belgium and Russia for a 'better' bilateral agreement.
The current one was signed in late 2010 and allows both SN and Aeroflot to fly 14/week between Moscow and Belgium. To get this agreement through, 3 years of work was needed...

Yes but maybe they are not allowed anymore in the new bilateral agreement (signed late 2010) or they may be allowed, but in that case limited in frequency to DME (wich is after all the most important)...

I would like to trust you but can you tell me so why Jetairfly don't stop growing, and Thomas Cook will fly this summer with only 5 aircraft...

Careful here, both Thomas Cook Airlines as well as Jetairfly are 100% subsidiaries of tour operators and get the majority of their income from their parent's activities, so it must be kept in mind the isolated results of the airlines are heavily dependant on internal accounting standards and do not really represent their operational performance as good as it does with independantly operating airlines.

After all: think about it for a minute: if you book a package holiday with Jetair or Neckermann, it is really up to the internal accountants to attribute what they think is a fair portion of your total travel bill as ticket price...

Hi,

Guess concerning the really effectivity/profit of both airlines can be extracted out of
their amount of destinations offered, the amount of aircraft, the amount of pax, ..
don't say TCB is bad/worse condition but guess we can say JAF is doing better business..
But JAF transferred themselves instead of a charter only into a kind of an all people mover,.. meaning
charters but also the hometravelling 'autochtonen' cfr. Algeria,Turkey,ex-Yougoslavia,Marocco... and
a bit of the LCC sector...

Guess this descision wasn't so bad for JAF..

Even the co-operation and the TC holidaybookings operated by JAF let me believe JAF rules a bit now..

And I guess this is other, less positive news about them:

"The 170 year-old firm saw its share price plunge 75 per cent last Tuesday amid fears it was on the brink of collapse.

It said it needed extra cash after its French and Belgium markets saw bookings fall by up to 20 per cent in recent weeks, while a move into the Russian market had “got off to an extremely slow start”.

The group has suffered from the impact of the Arab spring, which has hit bookings to Tunisia and Egypt, destinations popular with France and Russia, respectively, as well as UK holidaymakers"

AF announces 5 weekly service from its new regional base TLS to BRU as from next summer season; with Easyjet also announcing this route as from end of March 2012, it seems like there might be some sort of overcapacity building on this secondary route next summer as SN also operates on it it 3 times daily...

Let's see what all this activity brings, but probably less than unspectacular yields for all 3 airlines.

The only thing I like about this is to finally see AF A319's back in BRU...now we only see these 'boring' E145/135's. :P
But indeed...quite some extra capacity, wonder what that will bring...
