Yemeni Crash Boosts Scrutiny of Air Safety in Emerg Nations

Post by TallDutch »

The fatal crash of a Yemeni Airbus jet into the Indian Ocean is heightening scrutiny of the safety standards of developing nations and their airlines.

The European Union said it will assess whether to add Yemen to a list of countries with unsafe airlines that includes Swaziland and Indonesia, following the accident yesterday involving a Yemenia Airways Inc. Airbus SAS A310 carrying 153 people. A teenage girl was the only survivor found in initial rescue operations.

MORONI / Prince SAID IBRAHIM (FMCH) RWY 20 approach procedure is a visual approach without 'PAPI' aids.

Especially during night, under windy conditions / bad weather and flying from the LH seat this approach can be classified as dangerous.

Maybe the IY626 Crew (.... THY1951) f*cked up, maybe not and/or is it technical Airbus / EADS / Pratt and Whitney related(?)

In this stage we simply don't know the cause.

Blacklisting Yemenia / Air Yemen without knowing the the 'real' cause is 'more or less' playing panic football.

The French lost three (3) hulls since 2000 and there are many accident/incident examples where EASA JAA Flight / Technical Crew f*cked up without 'Airline blacklist' consequences.

Apperently either the CVR or FDR have been found as per this source...talking about recorders: I'm afraid that the air france recorders are expected to stop transmitting any moment these days. Without homing beacon, it will be close to impossible to retrieve them
