New name from SAS department Norwegian

Now its official.
The new name of the norwegian company will be SAS Braathens and will be the biggest of the 3 airlines with 2000 cabincrews against SAS Swedens 1600 and SAS Denmarks 1400 cabincrews.
And they wil primary be in charge for domestic nowegian flights and will probably be the biggest Interscandinavian carrier among those 3 SAS companys. But they will not have as many routes to the rest of Europe as their colleagues in Denmark and Sweden.

Because Braathens and SAS Norway will become one Airline.

I still don't get it... Can anyone explain why in this age of airlines merging or trying to merge, SAS is splitting up? Just because of 39 unions? I just don't get how this could be more cost-effective.
Does someone have an explanation for this?
