IL76 Crash in Baku

Post by AN124 »

Again a sad day in aviation.

A IL76 Azov Avia has crashed in Baku.
Registration of the plane was UR-ZVB. Some crew members are believed to survived the crash.

Chris,

Even though every crash or accident is a sad event, statistically (and the statistics are cold), there is no reason why there shoud be a end to the series.

All one can hope is that everyone does his utter best to avoid accidents.

I know but I didn't ment it like that. I just wanted to point out the fact that since the beginning of 2004 there are a lot of crashes

Sorry for the wrong info posted earlier, but hte plane wasn't UR-ZVB but UR-ZVA or UR-ZVC. Reports at this moment say there is a picture wich clearly shows the ZVA regi but I didn't found it yet.
UR-ZVB is reported at Bratislava today.

This is an image from the crashed plane the clearly shows the Blue Cheatline UR-ZVA and UR-ZVC have and UR-ZVB is all white.

Source of this image is the Russian forum I mentioned in my first message.

I also received this mail from airsafetynetwork:
4 MAR 2004 Ilyushin 76 Azov-Avia, near Baku, Azerbaijan 3(7)

ASN ACCIDENT DIGEST 2004-05 (correction)

The registration of the ill-fated Ilyushin 76 could NOT have been UR-ZVB
as one of our readers pointed out that -ZVB is currently at Bratislava
Airport (BTS), Slovakia.

Other possible candidates are:
UR-ZVA (msn 0063468036, flying for Azov since 2002)
UR-ZVC (msn ?, flying for Azov since 2003)
I'll keep you updated on this topic.

Best Regards,
Yvo
