It's certainly a very nice idea to celebrate such an event by aplying a special paint scheme to one of your planes. But personally I don't like the way they've done this.

It would have been much better if they would have painted the hole aircraft in the liverey they had 50 years ago

Like AA did with the RetroJet. If you don't see what I mean just click on the following LINK

Anyway this is just my opinon :P

Ciao

Seen this one taking off after landing yesterday in narita , really nice plane colours ... especially the flag at the tail which can be a very good idea for future paiting shemes ...

I have been in contact with a friend in Japan, to see if there are postcards of this Aircraft.

He assures me that this colour scheme is NOT actually to celebrate JALs 50th Anniversary (which was previously), but the 50th Anniversary of their International Flights. :D

Cool anyway......... :D

I really like the idea they had, and I think they managed very well!
It gives you a better idea of the monstrous size of the jumbo, in contrast with the older generation of planes.

Let's hope many more commermorative liveries will pop up in the near future.

Does anyone know if Finnair has something in mind to celebrate their 80th anniversary :?:

ciao,
TriStar :)
