Polish Low Cost Services to BRU

Post by Comet »

Polish airline Air Polonia is intending to fly low cost services from Warsaw to a number of European destinations, including Brussels. The services would start next year.

The airline is also serving several Polish destinations from Stansted, home of tat, from 14th December 2003.

Sorry Chris, the article I read about this never said what type of aircraft would be used, though if they have the 737 in the fleet than I guess they will use it. I think the 737 is often the aircraft of choice of the low cost carrier.

Well, from what I saw on A.net they only have one B737-400 and one LEt L-410. That's why I was asking.... But I guess they'll aquire an additional plane if they want to open some new destinations.

If it's a choice between a 737 and a LET, then I think definitely the 737 for the higher capacity.

We couldn't even begin to guess Andre

So the Let has 19 seats, not much difference then between that and the 100+ seats of the 737 is there??!!

Hehe, i know who will like that, but he's not the only one! My girlfriend is polish, and next year she will probably go back to Warsaw (she is studying now in Lille) to do doctorate studies. So for me this is great news, as i'll stay in Belgium! Now at least i'll be able to visit her more regurarely without spending all my money!!!

Thanks Air Polonia, i'll become one of your most loyal customers for sure! :-)

That's good news for you Pieter, but aren't Virgin Express going to do a Brussels to Warsaw service?

wasn't VEX also going to start on the BRU-Prague route, or were these also speculations?

I hope they will! Sure Prague is the most popular destination in the former East europe.

VEX to warsaw is indeed still a rumour, but i guess that Air Polonia will be cheaper (if you look at their prices to London for example, very cheap!). Anyway, being a student now, and starting to work then (or looking for work, that will depend), i will choose the cheapest one for sure!

Let the competition begin! :)

Bye,

Pieter

Made a little update to the spottersdatabase, they will come twice weekly from March 30 on. See schedule.

Will Air Polonia start operating from BRU or CRL ? On their website Brussels S. Charleroi is displayed, when you are in the "buy ticket" screen.
I hope they will start BRU ! ;-)

Air Polonia never intended to fly to BRU. See Luchtzak news:
https://www.aviation24.be/article3356.html
https://www.aviation24.be/article3633.html

Their initial fares are quite attractive: 31 € for KTW-CRL and 61 € for CRL-KTW.

By the way, they do indeed have L410 airplanes, but these are used for freight only. Air Polonia was initially a cargo airline.

Read in the newspaper "De Morgen" of Februari 26 that "Zaventem" would welcome this bird. The least i can say (and apparent some others too), its a confusing situation as also on their web the Brussels route is promoted, and than below in very small letters Brussels=Brussels Charlerloi.

It is Charleroi for sure, read it in the newspaper and different times here on Luchtzak too.

If you search carefully at their website (what i have done already, since chances are quite big that i'll use that flight quite much starting this summer) you can even find some fares (KTW-CLR, but also CLR-KTW) for 12 euro, excluding taxes!! Cheapest i could find was a return ticket for about 44 euros, INCLUDING taxes! But that will probably only be temporary for the start of the route. They should start at the end of march.

I thought I had read they wanted to start flights to Oslo...
Any news about that?
(maybe not the best thread for that question, sorry :? )
